I own a Desire HD, not a Samsung... I do not know what you mean, a problem checking the balance.
If you go to the homepage for the forums (http://androidforums.com/) and scroll down, you should be able to find a sub-forum for your device. I do not recognise the Galaxy 5 GTI5503... it is not a varient on the Galaxy S is it?
Someone in the sub-forum may be able to give you better advice, as they may have had a similar problem!
