Earlier this week, Kelli Burns, a professor of mass communications at University of South Florida, told The Independent that they felt Facebook was listening to you via the microphone on your smartphone so they could show you ads or news feed items that you talk about. While they said they had no concrete proof that this was true, that didn't stop the story from going viral. Today, Facebook made an official statement that denied those allegations. Saying they only use the microphone for features of the application. . .like recording a video.
