Google adds a way to brick your Android device via recovery to AOSP code
To give users the option to remotely wipe the partitions of their smartphone (in case it gets stolen), Google has added in a new 'bricking' feature to Android's recovery mode (which can also be activated via Android Device Manager).

When activated, the number of partitions that will be wiped will be decided upon by the OEM of the smartphone or tablet. So it could wipe everything, or it could wipe nothing. It will all depend on what the OEM sets up for their devices.
