    Verizon ordered to pay $1.35 million for using supercookies to target advertising
    Verizon Wireless was caught using supercookies to target advertising. Supercookies are those which exist on a device for a much longer period of time than standard cookies, and it's harder for the user to delete. The company has to pay $1.35 million for the violaton, as well as agreeing to a 3-month compliance to communicating the use of these cookies to users and requiring a user to opt-in.
