Xiaomi planning to launch its own mobile payment service in China
In an effort to offer more value to its customers, Xiaomi has announced that it will partner with national bank card association China UnionPay to launch an NFC-based mobile payment platform in China. While mobile payments in China are currently dominated by Alibaba and Tencent, Xiaomi has a good chance of taking the lead since it currently has more smartphone market share than any other manufacturer in China.

Here's the thing, both Alibaba and Tencent don't require your phone to have NFC, and in fact the retailer doesn't even have to have a POS terminal to accept payments from them, all they require is phones and QR stickers, that's it.
