Iphone 4 vs HTC Incredible

Left hand. If you hold it in the right hand with your thumb and forefinger, you're fine.

That's funny. I've never seen a device have so many requirements to make it do what it's supposed to. I thought the days of messing with the rabbit ears on top of the tv were over, but that's just been updated for the new millenium.

On phonedog they ran a story where an I4 user emailed Jobs about the issue:

Customer: "When I put my hand on the steel bands" of iPhone 4 "I lose all reception."

Steve: "Just avoid holding it in that way."

Noah from phonedog was flabbergasted by Steve's response. I'll post the article link below. Noah's comments are pretty good, especially considering everyone brands him as an Apple fanboy.:)

Apple's response to iPhone 4 reception problems is flabbergasting

I love Phone Dog and Noah for reviews and videos. Even Engadget is pissed at the response, and their the biggest Apple fans. It's like an "Oh well deal with it." I would be furious if i were an iPhone user.

If anyone wants to dispute. I have about 2 gigabyte of raw files and more images. This is just a sampler.
Why would anyone want to dispute it? Its common sense. The iPhone 4 has a MUCH higher resolution, so of course it'd look more clear. Were talking 480x800 (Incredible) versus 960x640 (iPhone4). If your trying to make the comparison that the Incredible phone is inferior to the iPhone, well then in terms of pixel count, sure. But also realize that Apple only updates that phone once a year, so by the end of this year you'll be looking at Android phones with a even higher resolution.

Edit: Just realized you made a similar post in the other iPhone vs Incredible screen thread. Why didn't you just post in there? Merging your thread with that now.

Erm, why does it look like you didn't keep the brightness at 100%. My phone is way brighter then that >_>

I also took the photo near the window where there was sun-light coming in. The video player on Android renders the file that way; over-saturated. Next, the greyish background is a result of how HTC's amoled screen uses Pentile Matrix rendering and arrangement of the pixel. Hence the pinkish/greyish hues. Thats why it appears darker.

If like people are saying the iphone screen is more readable than the incredible in sunlight, wouldn't taking pics with them in sunlight show the iphone coming out better. I'm not saying the incredible has better resolution because it doesn't. The iphone has more resolution on a smaller screen, it would only make sense it has better resolution. What I'm saying is it looks like you have the phones set at different brightness levels, because the only time I have seen my incredible look like that is with the brightness set to minimum.

As far as me switching to Apple, not gonna happen. I have had two ipods, and both of them conveniently failed at around 18 months. That just seems a little fishy. The other reason is their boss. When a disgruntled new iphone4 customer emailed Jobs about the signal loss issue (fingers or hand touching the metal band/antenna) he received a response and posted it on the net. Phonedog & Engadget were both shocked at how arrogant the response was.

Customer: "When I put my hand on the steel bands" of iPhone 4 "I lose all reception."

Steve: "Just avoid holding it in that way."

I'm sorry, but if I were to pay $200 or more for a phone, have a problem and get that type of response, I'd return it and switch carriers. There was no "sorry to hear about that" or "we'll look into it" or even "we know and are attempting to fix the problem". Some are saying that the issue is bogus and they should just send out an OTA fix that just shows more bars regardless (yahoo news story). Then what's the point of the signal indicator? In their official response, Apple says one solution is to get one of their many cases which will eliminate the skin touching the antenna. If there is a $30 fix, they should offer them free. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a recall and someone who shelled out that kinda money for the phone should not have to shell out more to make it function like it's supposed to in the first place.

You may bring up the same signal issue with the Incredible, but I live in a remote area of South Dakota, on the fringes of their signal, and I've yet to have any serious signal issues with mine. I'll stick with HTC or maybe go back to Motorola the next time I upgrade, but Apple just won't happen.

My coworker just came in today with it...and I had to do a double take when i first saw it because it looked like the same damn iphone thats been out forever. Once I held it and got to see the screen and play with it...being as unbiased as I could be...I was rather unimpressed...

I notice that the screen of the iphone 4 is definitely sharper and crisper...but...the screen size is just tiny...like i looked at my DInc...and was like...this is too small for me now. Maybe the form factor alone makes it small...

My coworker kept saying how cool it was to do the face to face camera talking...I asked him if he could do it right now, he paused and said...uhh nah I have to be on a wireless network inorder to do it. *whuurrrr whurrrrrr*

He also had a rubber case on it...which was just a rubber band that covered the edges, it did not appear to cover the back of the phone or the front (for obvious reasons...).

Other than that...looked like an iphone...behaved like an iphone...nothing interesting about the iOS4 so it was whatever imo...im good with my DInc, im more excited for the Droid X if anything.

Apple, one phone, 2 options.

Android, a plethora of phones nearly unlimited options.

The iPhone had better be damned near perfect, they only had to design one, which is why I don't like it. Give me choices. Is there only one car on the market for everyone with two gas tank size options? Good, bad or ugly, we all have different tastes. Why should we be forced fed one mans idea of perfect? I ditched my iPhone 3G for Android, not the Inc. I'll stick with Android and maybe the Inc., but most likely get the next awesome Android phone in 6 months or so. I love options.

I hope this is not too far off topic, but while we are speaking of screen comparisons. The first thing I noticed about the ip4 screen is that it creates a lot more drag on my finger. I have an ipod that I no longer use, and I did not really notice the difference when I got my Dinc, but WOW... The ip4 feels like it has masking tape on it compared to the Dinc. Anyone else notice this?

Also, in reply to the main topic. The ip4 resolution is better than the Dinc. That is a fact.

It is worse than that. The Inc does not really have a 800X480 resolution due to the type of oled tech used. Inc looks far less sharp than the even the Moto Droid, yet alone a higher res device. Small text is the easy litmus test.

I luv my Inc, but my previous Droid and N900 both have LCD displays and are far sharper than the Inc. Inc has true blacks and is more vivid, so it is a trade-off.

I can't see the love the the Iphone I just look at it after owning a few android phones and say "why?" but some people love it, same with BB I have a Curve8330 and I hate it with a passion but know people who absolutly love the same phone and couldn't imagine being without it or another BB device.
It's all prefrence, people who have to talk smack about other phones are kind ridiculious , it's a phone. There are options for everyone as everyone is slightly diffrence. I remember in High School instead of being Apple vs Droid it was Import vs Domestic cars lol, so lame

I'm pretty sure he skipped over the fact that on top of being able to use SD cards on the Dinc, it also has 8gb of built in storage. lol
Too biased for me. :)

In all honesty, the removable sdcard is not a big deal if you can't really use it. I have 16gb microsdhc on mine and I can't fill it up w/ the content I want. I wrestled with the music player since launch day. I can't play any of my existing movies without re-conversion. So far in 2 months, I've only filled it up w/ 2GB. This is mostly low-res picts, PDFs, and a some music. If there was something better than double twist that allows me to manage my 300GB music collection, then yes, I would use multiple sd cards. But, in the current state, it is a hassle to manage that large amount of music on Android period. This forum is rife with people having issues managing their music.

On the iPhone 4, I can record 5 hours of 720 p HD video. I have about 20 gigs of movies and music copied over on the iPhone 4. In ten minutes, I was able to copy over 30 different playlists with zero hassle. I can play any H.264 720p vids from my Canon camera. No conversions. No handbrake,etc.. The same movies I play in my PMP, WDTV, HTPC plays with no problems.

As for the INC, if I had 32GB of excel and word documents, then yes,I can see the advantage to the removable storage. Then again, word/excel/pdf docs are so small, they can put them in a cloud storage like drop-box.

WOW!!!!!!! who is that clown!!!!!! make sure I never listen to anything he has to say. what a jerk.. did you guys notice that same thing I did? he would say that "this feature id better on the DINC but then give it to the I-Phone"???? WHAT????

i could have sworn that the DINC browser destroyed the I-Phones in every single test(he admitted it himself), YET he gave it a tie???? what a clown.. how do peopl like this get o keep their jobs???? I have never seen anything that bad in my life. Also, if you notice the loser DINC screen was ten times clearer to look at. But i'm sorry, i must be an idiot becuase the I-Phone won hands down according to this joker.

yes, but the point is how they skipped over the size capability!!!!!!!!! What it can and can't be used for is a different subject. He blatantly skipped over it and gave it a tie (or "goes the I-Phone", i can't remember and refuse to watch that stupid thing again).

no matter what side your on that guy was rediculous. If he could only hear himself and realize how bias he was, maybe he would fire himself. he would say how much better something was on the DINC and then the very next sentence say "this goes to the I-Phone". come on!!!!!!! don't agree or defend anything about this video. please!!!!
