What are the odds of Android 2.2 (Froyo) on the Galaxy?

I should hope we get froyo on the galaxy because I think I read earlier that drakaz was considering moving to 2.6.33 which I know is gingerbread's kernel. But I just heard that cyanogen will be providing froyo to the G1.
8 Android phones will get FroYo early thanks to CyanogenMod – Android and Me

So i think that we should get froyo as well. Unless drakaz plans to skip it altogether and go to Gingerbread. Anyways even if he does not I will be happy with eclair on my phone. :)

Yes and no Porga. Yes it would be nice but depending on the code changes and how much work Drakaz is going to have to put into it working on eclair may not be worth it. If, for example, the bluetooth code is radically different in Froyo from Eclair and it's going to take a lot of work/time to get it working in Eclair and then a lot more work/time to get it working in Froyo it makes sense to work with the Froyo code and just do all the work once.

Lol remember who you are trying to spam here its Samsung. They will just ignore what we are sending them.

However, I feel its worth a try though, as we could ask them for the entire source code for all the drivers saying that we rather take matters into our own hands than rather keep complaining to them. This would work out better as we would have everything we need to keep us going for a while.

From drakaz's twitter:

drakaz
Public BETA 2 under testing.

So, as He said before, as soon as Beta 2 is launched, he will start working on Froyo's port.

I agree that is a risk of the development get stacked somewhere between eclair and froyo. But what other choices do we have, besides waiting and cross the fingers for drakaz success doing Samsung's job?

Dont think so, Samsung forgot about about their FIRST android phone appearently. Lucky for us that we have drakaz.
Maybe they will relese gingerbread for i7500 since it has better system management and ram management. *joke*
Ps: Magic has way more ram than we have.
I can understand the Samsung part of your argument, but hardware-wise HTC Magic and Samsung Galaxy are almost identical, so it could be great to port.

Magic has not more ram than the i7500, you are thinking of the Hero
