Help Camera screen dims in the horizontal position

After the OTA and a factory reset my screen dims when I tilt the the phone in camera mode. It's fine when the phone is vertical but when I go to take a horizontal landscape shot it dims the screen to black. It will do the dimming proportionally to the angle the phone is rotated off the vertical axis and front to back (freaky) It will still take the shot but I have no idea how centered I am on the shot. I changed auto dimming to "off " but it still blanks it...any ideas? Thanks.

Are you inadvertently covering the light sensor near the earpiece when using the camera in landscape mode? I'm sure that there are people on these boards that know more about this, but I think that the Eris dims the screen when you are in a dark environment. Just a thought.......

EDIT: I re-read your original post and see that you already turned off the auto-dim. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

EDIT #2: Not to insult your intelligence, but when I first took pictures with the camera I often got one of my fingers in the way! :)

Clear finger placement on the phone is as before the OTA so I know that's not causing the horizontal camera screen dimming.

I re-adjusted the "G- sensor" without change and toggled the "Orientation" to non-automatic, then checked it and toggled it back to automatic without change.

As I rotate the phone the screen dims more the more it's tilted off the vertical axis and rebounds as it's brought back to the vertical axis. Kinda cool, but definitely not desired.

Maybe another factory reset is in my future? The last time I did that I had to get my phone re-authorized as the "Verizon Security System" shut my phone down  Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks for your response.

Alright I think I got it fixed.

The only other application (besides ATK free) I installed after the factory reset was an app called "Color Flashlight" I cleared the short cut from the home screen and cleared an update for it in "Manage applications". Kept the base app "Color Flashlight" and added the short cut back to my home screen. Checked the camera and and now all is well. Must have been a buggy update from the app? Time will tell.

Thanks

Danielson, you deserve a gold star for your June 25th, 2010, 04:20 PM post!

I have been frustrated trying to take landscape photos of spectacular mountain scenery (while wearing polarized sunglasses). I thought my HTC Incredible was somehow malfunctioning but I just confirmed your solution. The world is a better place!

Thanks, again.
