Hard to believe that a major company in the cell phone business would release a phone as problematic at our Moment. My first one went 6 months before I started calling Sprint with the WTF is the deal calls. I had put up with all the common BS we pretty much all experienced thus far in hopes that the 2.1 release would solve the issues, at least the chronic ones. Ive even tinkered with the darkside files and rooted and ditched this and that hoping things would somehow be better. But, after my phone wouldnt receive calls, go into roam when im 10 feet away from the Airave and regularly experience data lockup I put my foot down with Sprint and they sent me a replacement phone the other day. Its a refurbished unit and I really get the warm and fuzzy feeling knowing im getting a unit which has had problems already and was returned! Today was the icing on the cake, the "new" phone shuts itself off/dies and needs a battery pull in order to reboot! So, I sicked the woman on them this evening because she can be ruthless over the phone when things need to get done. Her Moment has been every bit the trouble maker mine has and has been replaced once with a actual NEW unit already. Its been making calls while sitting on her desk at work without even being touched. I can see a butt call from time to time but ghost calls to random people in her contact list is hard to understand. Never the less, we are both getting brand new Moments from Sprint on Monday. Lets hope they are trouble free.
I dont know if Sprint is the root of all these issues or if its the Android OS that needs more work. When I lived north of San Antonio Sprint kicked ass over there. I never had a problem. Now that ive moved to eastern North Carolina (where admittedly the coverage is rather on the poor side.. have a look at the coverage maps) im starting to hate these phones. Do the folks with Verizon using Droids and other Android OS phones have all these problems too? I like Android over the rest of the competition because I like to tinker more than talk on the phone and going to most of the other phones you dont get to play nearly as much. Or,,, is there simply a problem with the Android platform and the problems will never go away?
Ive had so many issues that Sprint has released us from our contract already and as much as I hate the idea of switching to Verizon (excellent coverage in this area) im about ready to go back and bend over financially for them.
Im going to submit this post even though i know its just more of a rant. Thanks for reading.
