System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

Okay, so I was one of the unlucky few who checked for HTC updates I guess before it was supposedly completing already running htc updates.

So I was on the phone with Sprint for quite some time, hardware reset DOES NOT WORK, nothing works. I go to sprint store, who cannot get the phone running either. To top it off, there are no EVOs in my area that I could go and get a replacement.

So guess what? I have no phone. Even customer service said they wouldn't have any until this Friday...4 days from now. I told them I need a phone. So they say they'll ship me a Hero for now, overnight it, bill it to my account, and then I will need to return 2 phones.

NOT VERY HAPPY WITH SPRINT RIGHT NOW:mad:. What's that? iPhone 4 now available....HMMMMMMMMM

let me know how they do it, i dont have a sprint store here, i got it from radio shack so

Luckily, my boss is really cool (I guess it's also important that I have my phone, since people contact me on it for work, as well), so I'm leaving for lunch in like 10 minutes, to go get this resolved.

As soon as I get back, I'll report everything the Sprint Techs tell me.

DOH! Oh well. I'll see what they say at my Sprint.

Update went fine for me, phone is definitely much "zippier"...everything seems to open and load up quicker, no lag at all.

Only problem is ShootMe not working as others have said..is there a fix for that coming? Or something I can do to fix it?
Someone posted a similar program a few pages back. Don't remember the name.

Well I made the update and I play just for 5 minutes and look faster, I didn't have the grounding problems.
One thing that I notice and I am not sure if is only me, the battery life seems that have improved. I did the update 1 hr ago at 100% of battery, disconnected from the power and leave it there without using at all, I just check and it has 95% of battery and usually the battery should be around 80s

Never got notice of the update, and when I manually checked, it said it didn't exist. So, I took the advice from another thread and switched on my WiFi and checked again. Voila! It said the update was available and asked if I wanted to download it. I did so within a couple of minutes via WiFi and did the update. I was plugged in to power the whole time and everything ran smoothly. It didn't take very long. It reloaded fine, including my old wallpaper, but then I saw 5 widgets had problems loading: all of my "beautiful" widgets as well as the Android voicemail icon. I just deleted them then re-added them.

What else I noticed (also mentioned earlier in this thread):

- Icon changed for QuickOffice
- Lost my Android wallpapers
- Lost the ability to use the upper characters on my virtual keyboard when holding down the key
- Must have updated Qik because I can't uninstall "Qik for HTC Evo" from the downloads in Marketplace
- ShootMe no longer works (says I have to have ROOT access) :(
- I unplugged the phone, and the battery still showed 100%. It used to drop to 98% immediately. Dropped down to 98% within 3 minutes tho. Jury is still out on the battery issue ...

My hardware version is 0002. Phone is not rooted.

NOTE: RE-BOOTING THE PHONE FIXED THE VIRTUAL KEYBOARD ISSUE. If you are having that problem (unable to use upper characters on key press hold), then shut down your phone and re-start it. Everything was fine once I did that. :)

After the update, I did another manual check for the update and it said my phone was up to date. (Obviously, from reading about brick problems this morning, I wouldn't have installed/downloaded it again, but I was curious to see if it showed I was updated properly).

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I tested for the touchscreen issue, and everything was fine now. I had had it lock up previously when I'd had it on my desk and I tried to slide down the notification bar. All seems to be good now. I tested with DRAW and could draw a line everywhere on the screen (including right along the edges) without any dropouts on the lines.

For those who still want the wallpapers that were taken out after the update... you're in luck! Click here:

Nexus One Wallpapers - Nexus One Wallpapers

Thanks for the link. Really appreciated. Although I counted and found there were three of them missing.
1) Green
2) Gray
3) Gray with 3d squares. This is the same Nexus One live wallpaper except with those rolling lights.

Anyway I can get that Gray with 3d Squares?

With the improved battery life i have noticed it taking twice as long to charge now.

NOTE: (Not sure if its the charger im using though - I bought a mini USB to Micro USB adapter for like 10 Cents (2 dollar shipping) and it charges just fine..But never had this issue before.)

My usual day is a full 100% when i leave for work in the morning at 7, it dropsto 91% in 20 minutes, get to work, check email, write a few texts and sync up to App Brain and that makes it go to 85% or so in a few hours of that usage.

I do the *#*#4636#*#* battery trick as well as kill Gtalk and sprint update pack in the Running systems section before work and thats about the norm for me. 3 hours of moderate use before it gets to mid to low 80s on the battery.

When i started the update i plugged it in and let it charge. Normally i can get a full charge from 85% or so in about an hour. Not so now.

Its been charging for over an hour and a half now and it only gained 9%. I have nothing running, killed the Gtalk/mail thing and its in sleep mode and yet its still this slow to charge up.

Ill edit this post once home to see if its the charger or if it was the patch to improve battery life if it did anything to slow the charge speed (like trickle charge) or something.

Just an observation - i could be wrong.

For those who brick there phone due we blame Sprint or HTC? I say this because this update is HTC Upgrade.

I bricked my phone. Partially, I blame myself for a lack of patience as I just installed the 2nd update without even giving it a second thought !

However, it's amazingly bad that reinstalling a software update bricks the phone. That blame is on HTC as they created the install package.

I don't think Sprint has much to do with this. Unfortunately, the EVO is still in short supply so it's tough to get an immediate replacement.

I'm heading to the Sprint store after work. They were not sure if they could offer me a replacement on the spot, but they were going to try and take a look at it to see what they could do.

If Sprint can't get me a replacement on the spot, I'm going to have to just return the phone and try again with Sprint some time later.
