System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

Mine bricked on the first install. It went like this:

Updates are downloaded and ready to install, OK
Phone reboots
Installing update screen w/progress indicator
Progress goes to 100%
Phone reboots again
Installing update screen w/no progesss indicator
Phone reboots again
Installing update screen w/progress indicator again
Progress doesn't move
Phone shuts off
I wait 30 minutes, nothing
Try turning on the power, nothing
Remove and replace the battery, no power
Plug it into the computer, nothing

I called up Sprint and they are sending me another Phone. The lady was really helpful (unlike the store was).

Hardware revision was 02 FYIY and the phone was unmollested. Only a couple of legit applications were installed.

Ah, you are the person that I am looking for. Please answer this question on behalf of all root users out here: Is your phone still rooted after the udpate?

There's a big question as to whether root access is lost by applying this update. Do you still have the "superuser" icon dealio in your applications?

Wow this update is amazing! Granted I flashed the stock ROM ([ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6 - xda-developers) before updating as I was experimenting with custom ROMs.

My memory is around 200MB free as apposed to having around 115-150MB before the update with or without stock ROM. Granted I am using Advanced TAsk Cleaner 2.0 to manage my running apps.

This is the fastest EVO so far and I have tried overclocking it as well.

There was no way I could update it with root for me. Every attempt at an update, I was greeted with an image of a box and the Android mascot and eventually at around 25%, I got an exclamation point and the phone would not progress.

I kept ejecting the battery to restart and every attempt after that fails. Luckily my phone is not bricked, but I just gave up on root and flashed the stock ROM and updated from there.

The speed is very nice and although I miss root, I'll just wait for the Unrevoked guys to come out with their second version to work with this update.

I can't believe how many people are bricking their phones here. I have to wonder who to blame.

Anyone with a phone that they did not update want to test performance vs a phone post-update? What app should we install to do so? I'm curious.

HTC is to blame. If a lot of people are bricking their phones here, imagine in the non-forum world. I rushed to call my brother today to make sure he ignores the second update if it asks him. He probably would have hit yes if it asked.

The average user does not pay attention to the version number. If a second update window came up, anyone would assume it's an update to the update or a chain of updates. The user is not to blame at all. This is 100% HTC.

On the bright side, if you're like me and have screen separation.....this sure is a tempting way to get a non-nonsense replacement Evo. :p Just install the second update.

I'm a RS customer so I think I would be SOL until more come in (if ever).

goolge voice not working after update? I can no longer make out going calls from my GV number after updating my phone. Whenever i try to call someone, it rings twice and goes to their voicemail, on the other persons phone it just shows that I "rejected call" and they have no way to pick it up.

Anyone know if this is because of the update or another gv issue that has a solution?

Already rebooted my phone twice, and uninstalled and reinstalled GV and that didnt fix the problem.

Well this really F-ing sucks...what i can say is that after the first update installed. the phone responded VERY well..and i had fallen in love with it all over again.. The phone began to download the 2nd update all on its own and failed to successfully install it which bricked my phone... i love my Evo and i will be back..for now im riding on a Blackberry tour which is extremely difficult since the Screen is sooooo dan small.....can we establish whether there are 2 updates or a single update? earlier today i first checked firmware but got a message saying none was avaliable, After i checked and installed the HTC software update, the System update ( firmware i assume) downloaded on its own to my phone which is why i installed it. I was under the assumption there are 2 updates.. 1X HTC software, and 1X Firmware (system)

Can we confirm how many updates there are?

Google Voice is working perfectly for me. I use the GV app and all. No changes since the update.

It never asked me about a 2nd update. It asked how to download the first, then it finished but didn't install, so I went to HTC update and asked it to check, then it asked for permission to install the update I had already downloaded. I said yes and left it alone. No problems.

Yeah but my fear is that it's only a matter of time since most people have update notifications enabled. It checks periodically. The average user will allow the update.

Same here. Mine bricked on the second update.

On the phone with Sprint now giving them one last chance. I will miss my Evo. Was my favorite phone ever...until this AM.
