System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

2 hours have passed since I updated my NEW Evo after they bricked my first one this morning and im glad to say that all is well with it so far, only problem I had was the battery widget, had to delete and just reinstall the widget.

All is well with my ver3 Evo.

Sorry to everyone who got bricked like me this morning but the great thing was when I bricked I was right next to the Sprint store in Manattan.

While the vast majority of consumers successfully downloaded and installed the most recent HTC EVO 4G software update, we have received a handful of reports from customers having some issues with the update. In light of this, HTC and Sprint have decided to temporarily halt distribution of this software release until we can investigate further. We expect to be able to resume software updates shortly.

Check your Google Talk. People have reported that the update resets it to turn on upon reboot. It's probably running right now which is causing the uptime problem.

Thanks. It hadn't for me, and I signed in and then out just now. I'll monitor...

I used ATK to kill some tasks, but battery percent went from 50 to 40 in under 10 minutes. ATK is NOT set to auto-kill.

Feel free to show your thanks by hitting the thanks button :D:D:D

What do you mean by "Version 3" ?

Something was telling me to wait on this update until I read the results from others and I think I am glad I did! Between the bricked phones and possible worse battery life, I don't know...

I am sitting here with a phone at 1day 11 hours, 45 percent battery left and I am really scared to mess with that success! The only real issue I have had is the notification bar won't pull down if the phone is on a flat surface. My wifi reception at home isn't great, but then again it is no better on my laptop.

If I decide to ignore the update (once they put it out again) will it keep bugging me forever? What about when Froyo comes out, do you have to be completely "up to date" to get the next update?

Quick office was always there, I just noticed it about 4 days ago for the first time. The wallpapers disappearing is probably a side effect of blocking/removing the stock android 2.1 home/launcher.

No issues with my update, lost a lot of widgets, wish they said what they were. Shootme is gone :( anyone try easy tether yet? I'm out on the road right now and left my laptop behind. I need to easy tether for about 5 hours for work tomorrow and will not be happy if it isn't working.

Fyi I wasn't staring at it the whole time, but I believe the phone does not charge while updating, at least I did not see the charge light during the update.

Update took about 10 minutes, 3 to 4 reboots. No issues

Well I apparently forgot to submit this post... 8 hours ago...

So easy tether works just fine, testing the battery now, not expecting much difference though, as I already "took care of" the issues supposedly resolved by this update for battery life. I do think the phone is a good bit snappier, I have noticed the wifi icon is much more on par with my other wireless devices. This was all written with SWYPE, so all good there, I got most if not all my widgets back and working; however I'm a little upset that shootme was killed, I wonder what it use that requires root, that would make it necessary to kill it...

Go to Settings>system updates>HTC software update

It has been pulled though.

There must be a bunch of people that were having problems with the phone bricking. When I called Sprint Tech Support, they said it was a known issue already (that was barely at around 10am PST).

I really don't mind, as long as I'm able to get a replacement at Best Buy sometime soon. It's a good thing that I already had to replace it once on the 24th because that extended my 30 day return.

Same here. Mine bricked on the second update.

On the phone with Sprint now giving them one last chance. I will miss my Evo. Was my favorite phone ever...until this AM.

Sprint isn't being so friendly on this one. After my EVO turned into a brick they made me go across town to the store where I bought it (rather than the closest corporate store) to see if they had any to spare. In return for leaving work to get there in time ... nothing.

Sprint Corporate store I went to didn't have any replacements. Since I bought from Best Buy, I'd have to exchange it there anyway. Strange not having a phone, but at the same time, kinda nice having an excuse not to communicate with people...LOL

It said there's no updates when I checked the firmware update. So is there any way I would know I have the latest update?

My firmware version says: 2.1-update1
and my Baseband version says: 1.39.00.05.31

Does anyone know if I have the latest update?

It's not a firmware update. You have to click the HTC software update, but to my understanding, Sprint has since pulled the update (I'm assuming because of all the phones that the update has killed).

That is the old software, if you want to call it old.

New one will be 1.47.651.1 which is what I have now.

You missed the boat. You don't have it and Sprint pulled it already. Should be back up soon.

Look for the Software number, BTW. The updated version is 1.47.651.1. My baseband version reads 2.05.00.06.10 (upgraded).
