Android 2.1 is history... Droid X coming with Froyo...

Well, if the Blur stuff is truly not baked into the OS, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. Moto/VZW would have to do some testing pretty quickly before launch, but other than that, I don't see why not.

Oh, and it would have to be one of those things where they either update the phone at the store when you buy it or as an OTA update as soon as you activate it. No way they are going to open up all of the boxes and flash them all in the next two weeks.

been searching for the past 15 min. Cant find anywhere else on the web that says this.

Same here, I've done an extensive search and this is the only article I can find that mentions it. This website is based in India, raises credibility questions..

It would be awesome if it launches with 2.2, but until a reputable website says so I will have to say this is false. Hope I'm wrong.

It seems stange that Verizon would have a big launch event stating 2.1 in their launch package and then magically switch to 2.2.
Not really. Imagine the public reaction if they said 2.2 in the press conference, but they didn't quite make it and launched with 2.1. Compare that reaction to what it would be if they say 2.1 in the press conference, but actually have 2.2 available at launch. Pretty big difference, don't you think?

Again, I'm just saying that it is possible. And I think that the article was also just speculating based on the fact that 2.2 is now available. However, I don't know how integrated the Blur stuff is in the OS (maybe not at all?) and I don't know how long it would take Moto/VZW to do their testing.

Let me ask a quick question which has been brought up a lot around the web they say this phone will come with 2.1 but if that's true then why on all the demos and every screen shot you see implentations of 2.2 like some of the droid helper widgets the market place widget and for that matter even the market place. But another membr has already received an x off ebay fro the moto press confrencee and it has 2.1

I believe it was discussed that all they did was add the 2.2 widgets on 2.1 update 1 but it really isn't 2.2

Maybe Motorola implemented some things from 2.2, but as far as we all know, it has been confirmed that this is running 2.1.

Most companies do this when they announce phones in the wild. They will have their employee's running some aspects of newer versions of software as a way to say they are already thinking about improving things. But things like changing icons and widgets are simple, compared to actually having the OS running perfectly.

So when I purchase my Droid X when it comes out with 2.1, and then 2.2 releases, will it be an "over-the-air" update? Take it to a Verizon store?...

Sorry for ingorance question! LOL :)

Whenever they officially release 2.2 to this phone it will be OTA and you will just have to click ok or update when it pops up on the screen. Let it do what it needs and then you should be good to go.
