Am I the only one who doesn't think Swype is the greatest thing since sliced bread?

I been using it for a few days now. Its nice, once you get the hang of it you can type much faster then the normal way. But its really terrible for texting while driving. (Yes I know I should not be doing this anyways) =(

I thought it was amazing when I first tried it but once the 'new' factor wore off I went back to using the regular keyboard. The keyboards our phones come with are pretty accurate and theyre only going to get better!

Like most people I'm going to give it a couple weeks to see how fast I can get at it. Ultimately I think it could work really well and so far with just a little use I'm pretty surprised at how well it all works. I'm waiting for the novelty of it all to wear off to see if I still like it then. That's the real test.

Swype is growing on me BUT I love the voice to text on the stock. It works really well for me. Even in the car, it worked well

I got the Boxwave Anti-Glare screen protector because it was the smoothest of all the ones I tried. It rocks for Swype and ShapeWriter.

I have used both and prefer ShapeWriter but I'm giving Swype another try. Swype's keyboard seems to be laid out better but I don't like where their text prediction box opens.

I tried Swype along time ago and didn't like it. Didn't feel natural.

Went back to stock keyboard.

Just downloaded Moto X keyboard and its amazing. Better then either.

Tried to use Swype again after reading the thread. Said free trial ended. Oh well..

I am not a fan of it

Shape writer is way better. I like the easy it handles double letters . Also the uppercase feature is way better too.

Go into your keyboard settings and enable multi-touch first.

This is exactly how I feel too. When I'm inputting text on anything else it feels slow and awkward by comparison. Even if iPhone 5 is on Verizon some day, and had killer features I don't think I could leave Swype behind and would stick with the best android phone available.

Shapewriter is great if you never need to type underscores, or other such characters. Unfortunately I use underscores in a lot of my usernames (like this one). They're both pretty great (I'm going to try SlideIT). The day after swype expired and when I got the new Beta was pretty long.

I hate it. Period. My boyfriend loves it on his MOTO Droid though, that's all he will use. Personal preference.

I love swype. It has a few minor annoyances on the HTC Incredible, but it's better than many keyboards I have tried.

You have to get used to using it, and there are shortcuts that I stumbled upon that makes it really nice to use. In other words, it's probably best to read their tutorials and manuals to get the most of it. A month later, I haven't done that... I probably should

I love Swype. Can't live without it. It does, however, take a few days to really get proficient so if you try it for 15 minutes and uninstall you haven't really given it a fair shake. But to each his/her own...

I tried both swype and shapewriter. Prefer the less intrusive suggestion box of shapewriter but in the end I touch type anyway so this doesn't save me any time really. Went back to using other keyboards that are not gesture controlled.

It took me 3 weeks to get "used" to it. Now I'm a beast and simply cannot type on any keyboard, including the Droid X multi touch. You need to learn not to focus on the letters but just the general area. The algorithm does the work.

I love swype, by far the fastest way to type and it's the only decent way to type without looking. Wouldn't change it. Shapewriter isn't bad either, but i prefer swype.
