Hi to all in the world of the Android :p

As you can see from the title of this thread, I am having problems connecting to my email. My phone is unable to connect to either Gmail or any other email via the phone. I am also unable to connect to the market place.
Have compared setting with my OH phone and found no differences.
I have not changed my gmail from googlemail to gmail (no changes on email settings - emails are both set up for POP, etc). Email was working up until a week ago.
Can still connect to the internet and view facebook, YouTube, etc.
Anyone know what is wrong and how to sort out this problem?

Many thanks
T1melady :D

Might be an idea to try different ports for the email accounts. In some cases you use SSL but you don't use the SSL default port number.

Look here for gmail account settings

Cheers for your reply. How do I change the setting on the phone. Can't find anyway to access the background setting for the email accounts on the phone

This is what you should be looking at (roughly)

Sync.png

Top of the pic, note Backgroiund data is ticked - thats the part your looking for. (its the same in android 1.5 and 2.1 so i assume also in 1.6 and 2.0 also.)

Yep that is how the screen looks on my mobile

So how do I apply the gmail client settings?

mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13287
Configure your client to match the settings below: Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995 Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS or SSL:smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
Port for SSL: 465 Account Name: your full email address (including @gmail.com or @your_domain.com) Email Address: your email address (username@gmail.com or username@your_domain.com) Password: your Gmail password

Or am I misunderstanding what I'm ment to do? :p
Cheers
T-lady

You cant change gmail settings once you have put the account on the phone, you need to delete it from the phone and re-enter it. Or you could try adding the same account twice, but i just tried that and it just used existing settings.

If you were to delete and re-enter the account, use above settings info for reference, and you should be ok, i hope. Look for Manual settings. If you dont get the option then im out of ideas im afraid.
