That suck dude. But how did you manage to take such blurry pics? ;)

Anyway, you might look into insuring the phone if you're really worried. Most plans have deductibles, but they're way less than $150 for a new screen, and you can usually get a new device first.
i dunno lol i was holding the camera pretty still...

its too late for me to get insurance now and get a cheaper repair, right?

To late? No.

Insurance fraud? Yes.

Not tempted to buy and fit another yourself?
so, if i got insurance before i sent it in, i wouldn't have to pay?

and what, replace the screen myself?

maybe, but it's so such an expensive phone, i didn't want to mess it up.

i've modded psp's and replaced screens on other devices.

maybe i should?

If it was only your glass that was cracked, I'd say go for it. But if it where me, I wouldn't risk messing with the amoleds.

If you insured it, it would be through a third party like Square Trade. They say on the site that you have to buy within 90 days of getting the device, but I don't know how they would tell. You wouldn't send the phone to HTC. Just file a claim and get a new phone. Presumably you'd have to send the busted one to Square Trade. But as was state above, it isn't on the up and up to get the insurance after you break it.
