Root {ROM}Suave Smush! Sense UI feel without all the hassle!

true. hadnt thought about that. i dont think anyone is dumb enough to actually type rm -r *...* though. it SHOULD be common sense that you insert the name of whatever into that spot.
In my experience, and from reading here and at XDA, the biggest stumbling block for most is when they have to type at the command line. It seems that very few people have much DOS or *nix command line experience and this always trips them up. Things like having a space or not having a space between text -- it won't make a difference, right ? In your example of "rm -r *...*", what would happen if they accidentally typed "rm -r * ...*" ?? Maybe nothing or will it delete all files (not folders) in the current directory ?

really though, i expect most people who are rooting and doing all this stuff to have at least a BASIC understanding of how it works.
Haha !! Remember, some want developers or users who've rooted to make a video and post it on YouTube so they can follow it. Step-by-step written instructions are too difficult (??). That's what prompts me to comment about command-line stuff. All too often, a single typo stops them dead in their tracks. More "advanced" users end up resorting to telling them to copy-and-paste the command-line text, which leads to another hold-up, how to paste into a CMD window. :D

true. and fyi, rm -r *...* wouldnt do anything.

Code:
rm: cannot remove `*...*': No such file or directory

i remember when i first started this i hadnt ever use a command line either. adb push took me over a week to figure out. granted it was beacuse on a mac you had to do ./adb and none of the directions said that lol but still. if your going to go through the trouble to do all this, you should also do the work to actually UNDERSTAND what your doing.

The directions did say to add the android-sdk's "tools" directory to your $PATH though, via .bashrc or .profile or similar :D That would have solved having to identify the current location each time you typed 'adb'.

Code:
rm: cannot remove `...*': No such file or directory

which i didnt know how to do on a mac, and dint learn how to do on linux till i swapped to ubuntu. i was a total noob when i first started out, but i learn pretty quick.

i still got nothin on a lot of the other devs. as much as i disagree with everything else about them, i gotta respect that fact that they really know their shit.

Edit:
Smoking a shit ton of weed seems to help too :p

Root Explorer worked great.

I removed the extra Gallery, and Handsent without issue.

Did I mention this is by far one of the best ROMs I have seen? We had an electical storm - so I couldn't charge my phone last night - I was at 80%, and 7 hrs later, without charging was at 78% !!!! Amazing!

Now I just have one glitch to fix, and that is sending MMS messages. Can someone point me to the right forum, or post instructions w/ the right APNs? I have never messed with APNs before, so this is a new one to me...

Thanks,

Regular task killers are more brute force, at least the way I use them. I don't have mine set up for "auto" kill tasks (not sure how that works anyway). I launch the task killer and tell it to kill "camera" and "handcent" and "browser", for example.

AutoKiller makes adjustments at the kernel level, adjusting how it decides when to kill old processes. Some, myself included, don't think the Android/Linux kernel does that well at killing apps. In my opinion, it allows free memory to get too low before it starts. Before rooting, my phone would routinely get down to ~24mb free RAM. It would be so sluggish, I knew something was wrong, so I'd launch the task killer. With a rooted ROM and AutoKiller set to "Optimum", 1) my phone never feels sluggish, 2) my battery life is tremendously improved, and 3) free RAM has never gotten below 50mb !!

How many are currently using this ROM? Seems like quite a few stuck with White Widow. I loved WW, but i'm currently running this and very happy. Still hand my nand of WW but not thinking about going back. thanks ken for all the hard work.

i do get a random reboot every now and then, but every ROM with JIT i've experienced that. But MMS works fine, which is always a deal breaker on ROMs for me. Gallery still messes up when changing orientation but i can deal wuth that. anyone using any metamorph themes? which ones?

This is an issue with that app. It happens on ALL ROMs. I vaguely recall a post/thread from someone at one time who claims to have fixed it.

that was mine. and i fixed the camera button, not the rotation bug. 2.1.3 fixed it but nobody knows WHAT in 2.1.3 fixed it.

to get around it just put your phone in landscape before opening the gallery.
the bug isnt that landscape doesnt work, its that you cant change orientation while the app is open.

I'm running v2 and have great linpack scores but everything seems to have more lag. It's not near as snappy as v1. Everything is setup the same. Any suggestions?

thats because JIT. remember me mentioning how i left it out in previous build because it was unstabel? now you know why lol. it may give higher Linpack scores but high linpack does not necessarily mean more speed.

to fix it just flash the JIT off patch.
