I'm pretty sure there are folks out there who have left Blackberry for the Evo. Well most of you have had a few weeks to play. How is your email working, your ability to sync (USB or Bluetooth) your calendar, to do list, and contacts. Are you able to get POP3 emails or do you have to have a Gmail account? I have a Tour and really thinking about making a move after 15yrs with a BB. Would love the feedback on the switch.

I had a BB Curve for about 6 months before switching over, setting up Gmail was much simpler, and setting up Yahoo mail was pretty simple too. I know the Tour is nicer than the Curve (at least the one I had), so while the Evo is much better than my old Curve, I couldn't say how much better it may be than the Tour.
You'll miss BBM. I miss it after only 6 months, and only a few friends who had a Blackberry, if you had it for 15 years, there's no way around it, you'll miss it.
Switch was pretty easy though, downloaded Google Sync on my BB, and as soon as I linked my Gmail account on my Evo, everything came over.

I had a Pearl and a Tour. It was hard at first, but spend 5 minutes with a touchscreen and a real web browser, you'll never go back.

I'm pretty happy...I left my blackberry curve 8330 on sprint, although I'm holding onto the BB in case they recall all the EVO's for screen separation, faulty audio jacks etc...
I've used BB's for over 4 years and found them to work great, except for the few times that RIM had meltdowns and no one could BBM their girlfriends for a whole day...
My main concern with the Evo was the ability to get my emails, both work and personal in a timely fashion. I'm using Touchdown by Nitrodesk to get my work email, since that is what my company supports. I have to say, it's pretty fast and on par with the BB. There are settings on the EVO about syncing mail every minute, hour, day etc. I have it set as often as possible, although it may drain the battery faster.
In terms of functionality...going from a BB Curve 8330 to the Evo was like switching from a Chevy Cobalt to an Infinity G35. There is just so much more to like about the Evo. I spent a whole day just browsing the android market for apps. There's thousands more than the blackberry store ever offered.
Do I miss BBM? I did for about 1 day, but then I just switched over to Google Talk and it's just as good.
Overall, very happy with the switch.

Im happy. I had the 8830, curve, Storm, Storm 2. I love the new innovation in Google apps and tweakin and apps. I love the screen and better hardware specs. Im happy to have switched and I think its actually cheaper over all for the monthly plan also.

Same here,but i do have to say that i miss my bbm,other than that BB got nothing compared to my Evo.
Jump the fence,the grass is greener on this side,u wont regret it.I know i didnt.

there's a lot about my blackberry 8830 i miss. the keyboard for starters, though swype makes touchscreen typing liveable. also, i just found the "pure" series of widgets, "pure messenger" will give you an almost-unified inbox akin to bb's & the pure calendar & pure grid calendar are rather nice too. between those & swype i'm close enough to my bb experience to be happy.

The Only thing i miss from my BlackBerry is the Keyboard and the Black Berry Messenger...Other then that...im cool

Same, had a tour, was garbage IMO (which surprised me after all my great BlackBerries priorly) and not looking back.

I had the BB Storm2 from Verizon. I liked the phone, but the EVO simply blows it away. The speed of the browser was a real selling point for me. I was running Opera mini on my S2 and the stock android browser simply smashed it. I will admit, like most of those above me, I do miss BBM. I feel like the email push is just as good, but then again, I had gmail account linked to my S2. Operation and customization definitely goes to the EVO. I can honestly say, I won't ever look at another BB until they get more memory (internal) and a faster processor.

I missed bbm for about 3 days. Handcent cured me of that. Replacing my curve on UScellular was long overdue.
The EVO wins in every single category. Browsing, forum chat rooms, flash. Every day for the last 3 weeks i ask myself " My God, what CAN'T the EVO do?"
I certainly don't miss the never-ending battery pulls or the 10 min spinning hourglass!

I upgraded from a Blackberry Pearl to the EVO. The only thing that I miss about the BB Pearl is it's small compact size/weight. However, I found out pretty quickly after using the EVO that size does matter. 
The EVO is awesome and I think BB has a long way to go, if they want to catch up to the technology and performance of the EVO.

Coming from 2 years of having a BB Curve 8330 (not much different from the newer models), I believe that the EVO is MUCH better. Glad I made the switch! I somewhat miss BBM but the attractive Handcent SMS app and option of other IMs such as Gtalk more than make up for the loss.

Absolutely happy with the switch! We've been a Blackberry shop for years, and one of my tasks has been to manage them along with our BES. I've dropped my Blackberry for the Evo as a test of the capabilities of the Android platform for our needs. So far I've been very pleased, and I've only got one small issue to address on our end involving VPN access.
The Blackberry platform was nice, but Rim is so far behind the curve with current desires in the smartphone market it isn't even funny. With recent advances with Exchange support and security tools, Android is really starting to grow up as a corporate option.
Soon Sprint and Motorola will be releasing the i1, and I'll be ordering a couple them for some of our field guys to test. If that goes well, we'll start moving away from our Nextel Blackberries as well. What's not to like about eliminating a dedicated BES server and the associated licensing costs?

I left BB (had a curve from AT&T and a Pearl from Sprint) for a Palm Pre and considered that a good move. Moving to the Evo was an obvious upgrade from the Pre and the prior.

came from a Bold 9650 and well...the Evo is just above and beyond in everything. Except a physical keyboard..but it doesn't have one =P
I love this phone, and am super stoked I decided to switch to it. I did LOVE the keyboard on the Bold 9650, it was superb. It was also my first full qwerty phone, before that I had touch or t9 phones. So I was leary at first..after about a week or so I was blazing fast with the hardware keyboard.
EVO has a huge screen, i typed with Swype on my old HTC Diamond(2.8" screen) and I just use the stock htc sense keyboard with the Evo since the screen is so large.
I switched from a hotmail acct to a gmail acct and I get emails very quickly on my Evo as compared to the BB.
I wouldn't be upset if a job i get in a couple months gives me a work phone that's a BB, but for personal use, can't beat the Evo imo.

I came from having the bb 8330m and what a pos!!!! I will never go back. The browser was horrible, no threaded texts, and I honestly don't get the hype about bbm. It takes a 3g signal to send text and only works for other bb owners. It constantly screwed up and time clocked, and you'd wind up getting a text hours if not days later. I had to always alternate from regular sms when bbm didn't work, and my friends have the same issues with the tour and storm. And those who made the switch, don't forget about the battery pulls 
I can't believe that Sprint and Rim's answer to everything on any of the bb's is to pull the battery, which is a pain in the ass if you got a case on it, and i know about quick pull and thank God they came up with that app. Sorry for the rant but IMO bb is a horrible device, and i guess as long as there are consumers out there that don't expect alot out of the phone they just paid up to $200 for and are stuck with it for a minimum year before upgrade, bb phones will still exist. I'm sooooooo glad to be a part of Android with my awsome EVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope I didn't rock the boat here, just love this site where you can atleast vent about your past experiences
