EVO screen goes blank. Let's solve this.

Some background info: I got an HTC Evo a few days after the initial launch. I had no problems with the screen at first...at least for a few weeks. Then all of a sudden, the screen would go blank after I took the phone off the charger, or would finish a call, and a few other instances. After dealing with that for a little over a week, I took the Evo back to sprint and got a brand new one. I looked all over the forums, but could not find any answers. I know some others are having this issue, but it doesn't seem that widespread.

So I get the new phone, and for the first day, I don't install any of the apps I had on the last phone because of a lack of time. No problems to report the first day of use, so I think I'm in the clear. The next day I start installing all of the apps I had on the first Evo, and bang, it starts to happen again. The screen goes blank, and I can do nothing to turn it on except to pull the battery out and restart the phone...which is a monster pain. After all of this, I have to think its a software issue. Some app I have running could be causing this? How likely is it that 2 Evo's have this exact same problem, and that it's hardware related?

Here is a list of apps I have installed on my phone:

I tried uninstalling several of them, but still can't find the solution.

Anyone have any ideas? I love this phone, but this issue is driving me nuts!

Same exact thing happened to me, returned it, got a new one, and haven't experienced it since, with all the same apps.

Well I did a hard reset earlier today, and the phone seems to be running much more smoothly, with no problems so far. I am just running the stock apps that came with the phone. I'm really starting to think it was an app causing this, will just have to narrow it down I guess. Will update in the next few days on if this was the cause for sure.

Well after day 1 of the hard reset, and leaving all apps off, the phone is working flawlessly. Every day previous, the screen had blanked out at least twice. I have to believe it was an app that was causing this. Now I just have to pinpoint which one it was. I also noticed much better battery life, which almost makes me want to run a task killer if you have alot of apps installed. Seems like when you have too many things running in the background, problems start to happen...with battery life, and screen issues.

I think I have it figured out. After doing a hard reset, the phone has been working just fine. Battery improved as well. So I figured I'd install the 2 apps I think I use the most and go from there. I installed Handcent SMS and Dolphin Browser HD. A few hours after installing dolphin browser, the screen froze up and I had to take the battery out twice. I uninstalled Dolphin Browser, and now no problems again. Not sure why this app would be causing this, but the phone is running much more smoothly without it. Maybe I'll try opera.
