Can't believe there is not a single thread about how close Drakaz is to release next GAOSP beta with Froyo 2.2 cooked in. So kudos to Drakaz!

So far, everything that worked on beta2 of Eclair, works on Froyo as well + we're getting more general speed increase + 3d gallery rotation fix + new froyo features (wifi hotspot, USB Tethering, Select Text on Web Pages, in Email, Android Market "Update all", faster browser, ...) + mods (openvpn,...)

Camera is not there yet, drakaz is fixing all small quirks of Beta3.

If it's all a little faster, I might go ahead and say screw you to the camera ;) I had performance trouble with GAOSP beta2 but I'll be happy to try beta3 and stick with it :)

Got to feel sorry for people who are told to get an Android phone over an iPhone because it has Flash and then get a Galaxy. You forget how little non-technical people know.

While this is amazing work by Drakaz the camera is a real show-stopper for me. I realise it's not his fault, Samsung and their proprietory software and drivers are preventing him. They really should help him, it'd be win-win for everyone.

I got a new phone from o2 2 days ago running Donut and I must say i'm surprised how fast it is. Admittedly I've not installed anything yet, but it's much faster than Galaxo 1.6.3.3 which was what I had on my previous unit. Be interesting to see how things fare with Froyo.

@porga: I had my phone in for repair/replacement, was hoping for a different phone, but they gave me a new i7500 instead (imagine my joy!). So i'm back to Donut and much as I miss 1.6 it is zippy, no dialpad bug, no dropped calls, lock button working fine and battery seems robust. I only wish there was something to complain about (apart from Donut) so I could try to persuade o2 to give me a new phone!

Baseband: I7500XXII4
CSC Ver: I7500O2UIK3

I guess this is a newer build (somehow) than I had before because I remember so many bugs with II4 in the past.

don't expect flash nor flash lite on i7500 anytime soon if ever

Really - that's a shame - but thanks for the info.

This is my first android phone and I'm really just testing the water - if I need to upgrade later then that's what I will do.

I would like flash 10 but it's not a show stopper at the moment.

I will read these forums with interest.

Thanks guys.
