Help Connectivity issues

Hi all,

I'm having a random issue with my Galaxy Portal (T-Mobile UK). Not sure if it's actually a network problem, or a problem with my handset.

I can't seem to get an internet connection through any program other than the built-in browser (Google Mail|Twitter|Maps etc) when I'm using mobile data. I also can't connect to any https through the browser (I just get the 'unable to establish a secure connection' error. I am, however, able to browse most other pages normally - but as you can imagine this is quite annoying.

When I connect through wi-fi, I can access all pages and use data in all applications normally.

I'm using I570EXXJE4, is this a known issue? Would updating to I570EXXJF2 cause more issues than it would fix?

All T-Mobile could suggest was to perform a factory reset. I have already tried deleting my APNs and recreating them.

Think I may have cracked this, I randomly saw a post of Beerkan's in which he gave the APN settings, and I noticed that I was somehow missing the authentication type, not sure how that got deleted, but I selected PAP and all is now dandy.

Any answers about the improvements in JF2?

Talk about speaking too soon! The problem is back this morning, though a restart fixed it. How do I work out what's causing this?

(and how do I delete my duplicate post above, you're supposed to click edit and delete from there, but there's no delete button!)

Ok, have re-flashed and rooted the phone seems to have made no difference.

I have tried disabling and reenabling data, going into airplane mode and back out again, but no dice.

The only thing that allows me to use data in apps other than the browser is to reboot the phone.

I've also tried using a task killer to close Opera/Gmail etc, then trying again.

Does anyone have an idea? I first thought it must be the network, but since going on and put of airplane mode doesn't make a difference I'm not so sure...
