My wifes brand new Wildfire arrived yesterday, and has gone back to Amazon today as it couldnt see her sim card (or mine for that matter )and continually switched itself off and on again. HTC declared it as DOA. Do hope its not part of a dodgy batch.

My Desire (not quite brand new), has a wobbly volume rocker, a home screen that rolls itself to any of the other screens at random while untouched by human hand, and the green highlight thing that sometimes appears on opened pages and flicks down from item to item on its own !

I will send mine back in due course, these are niggly things but not the end of the world for me, and I find it such a brilliant tool that it will have to be prised from my cold, dead hand !

Are we the only two people at the same address blessed with a pair of quite defective HTC devices ?!!!

Update on the wildfire problem : Almost certainly the sim. Sent the first one back as HTC reckoned DOA but its replacement was the same ! A bit of applied thinking led me to the village shop for a Virgin pay and go card and the phone has worked faultlessly ever since. Her new sim is in the post, the old one was at least 5 years old, worked in any other ordinary phone but I guess smartphones are more choosy !
