Root Behold II OTA 1.6 Tweaked

Tried porting betterbrowser over to the phone, that's not going to happen any time soon. The phone connects through APN with a secret tmobile apn key, if you attempt to use another browser it force closes because other dependent files attempt to check that apn key among other keys to connect to the tmobile wap page. So it goes to load google.com and then it goes, oh yea I DIDNT GET A KEY, THROW AN EXCEPTION..

right so im starting to lose it over here. I cannot believe how much time they put into completely entangling and quite frankly ****ing up the entire android system.

So for now The TouchWizBrowser stays.

I had problems too, I had one of BH_Man's ROMs and I tried to install the new tweaked 1.6 on top of that, and was stuck in recovery. Per suggestion on this forum, I started the process again with 1.5 full flash, and now it works, more or less.

I wonder if my troubles are connected to this too. Quite often my phone reboots by itself just seconds after it gets to the Automatic Time Update message. I am using the phone in Canada, on Wind Mobile. Wind replaced my SIM card, but the problems still persist. I had to enter the Wind APN manually to get 3G. I wonder if the phone is looking for the T-Mobile network and crashes when it can't find it. For a period of time, when I was using one of BH_Man's ROMs, the problem disappeared. The boot time was also half of the stock ROM. But there were many FCs.

I tried to flash the 1.6 Tweaked from microhaxo and it failed.

I tried to do a factory restore on top of the failed 1.6 Tweaked it too failed.

I Flashed the Stock 1.6 from Nu11u5 and it worked but it does not quite work as well as the OTA I recieved from Tmo.

I want to flash back to original 1.5 and then do the factory restore to see if it works like before.

Maybe flash back to original 1.5 and Then try the 1.6 Tweaked from microhaxo and see if that works.

If not, I can always Flash to the Stock 1.6 from Nu11u5 ans stick with that.

The stock 1.5 is listed under Updated Odin Images Available - 1.6 Release:

T939UVJA3-Odin.zip

This is the official 1.5 updated release from March 2010. This full flash will wipe your phone clean, including the recovery partitions.

Just flashed the tweaked V3 to my Behold 2, before that I had BH_MAN's take 5 flashed to it. After flashing with ODIN, it goes to a black screen, then says "recovery mode....", and then displays BH_MAN, an exclamation point and a phone. ODIN says PASS, but the phone stays at the BH_MAN screen.. Any ideas what I can do and what went wrong?

try pressing the menu button. sometimes that's all you need

if that doesn't work you'll probably have to do a full FLASH back down to a stock version then flash to this rom again.

it seems like a lot of work but i'd totally recommend using this rom, i've been using v2 for several weeks and i'm totally happy with it. i'm switching to v3 as we speak

Pressed the menu button and nothing. I am waiting a few more minutes and then I am going to flash to stock and then back to this and see what happens.

Happened to me too. Had to flash back to 1.5 stock then 1.6 stock. Then I tried again the tweaked v3, and got recovery screen. This time pressing the Menu button worked and the phone started. Remember that if the phone boots and the touch screen is not responding, you can shut the phone down using the End button and the D-pad. The touch screen usually responds after reboot.
Still checking v3..

HAHA, yes this time the menu button worked and the phone started. I'm glad that you told me about rebooting to get the touchscreen to work because I had to do that also and might I say wow what a beautiful release.

Is there a way to get the original Contacts? The new one does not sync well with the SIM or with the Google account.

Upgraded to v3 from take5. Root doesn't work. Root Explorer says it cannot obtain root access, Titanium Backup says the same thing. Going back to take5. I've never been able to get Nu11u5's rooted 1.6 kernel to work correctly.

Did you installed the Superuser.apk afterward?

If I want to flash this rom, do I have to drain the battery completely and then charge to full while off?

Also, will I lose all my settings, apps, contacts, etc? If so, is there some way to back them up so I can quickly restore them?

Basically the Galaxy contacts & dialer.

There is a problem with google contacts sync, this is the exact problem:
W/GoogleLoginService( 242): caller pid 1808 uid 10026 lacks com.google.android.googleapps.permission.GOOGLE_AUTH

Shouldn't be too difficult to fix google sync.

In fact i already fixed it:

Thats the next thing I'm looking into but I want to say no, looking through the framework-res.apk all the files for the stock android status bar are there but just the way twiz in on the phone it doesnt look like you can get a true stock android status bar.

however i think it is possible to change the status bar color to white which will give it the stock android appearance but the drop down notification bar will stay black so it might look weird

if you really want the stock android status bar and dont need vibrate port over the galaxy rom

The stock keyboard can be installed by pushing the AOSP LatinIME.apk to the phone.

Also the incall menu is the touchwiz one. It cannot be removed without me having samsungs exact testkeys, password and alias that they used to sign the system apk's.
