Something has changed over last few days because it worked fine when I got the handset. Now it showed brilliant sunshine at 10:30pm after updating tonight & yesterday it was doing it until gone midnight.

Weather seems to have gone from 'very accurate' to 'wild guess based on what the children drew in nursery class last week'.

I have Bridlington weather where I live , but is always wrong, sometimes its close it's a few degrees wrong.22 on the car outisde temp, 24 on the phone, 23 on the local chemist themometer blue iluminated display

I have to say I have had weather in Hartlepool(monkey hangers), Darlington(quakers), Middlesborough(smoggies), Sunderland(mackems), Newcastle(magpies/toon army) it's been a few degrees out but ok i suppose for a free app!

I wrote to them a couple of weeks ago, because Basingstoke (Hampshire UK) is down in their list as Baskingstoke. They added an extra K .. but no-one replied

I find that really annoying.

Just back from roaming in southern Ireland. Droid got local forecasts but labelled them all as "Unknown location"

If anyone's interested... T-Mobile's preferred roaming partner is Meteor. I was stuck on Edge for most of my trip, except in Dublin airport where I got some Meteor HSDPA. Access to o2 and 3 was blocked. Vodafone was open and connected at higher speeds than Meteor.

Woolwich, South East London seems to be a blackspot.
I was down there yesterday. On the way on the DLR my location changed from London to 'Poplar' but then once I got south of the river it changed to 'United Kingdom'. However when I was near the river it changed to 'East Ham'.

I assume that it gets your location from the cell site you're connected to, I wonder if there are some cell sites that don't broadcast their geographic location?

I'm in Reading, Berkshire and the current location doesn't work. Reading is definitely in the list sent by AccuWeather though as I've added it to my list of cities and it shows up fine

Hows this for you Displays Portsmouth UK but gets no weather data,
type in Southampton UK & then it displays the weather for there ok.
Strange acting app.

With me it is not a case of missing; Wigan, Preston, Pemberton, Mellor and most places around here in Lancashire all showed up fine at one time and now it just defaults to Current Location or United Kingdom.

The entire city of Edinburgh, and when it does occasionally work half of Edinburgh is classed as part of Juniper Green, a small town on the outskirts.

The last problem however is squarely at the feet of Google, as that is a problem with Google Maps.

Copmanthorpe (Small village near York) has showed up correctly when I got the phone, now for the past two weeks has just shown "United Kingdom". I work in Leeds, and that shows up fine!

I just updated to a new version of the rom i was using & hey presto the weather widget is working perfectly now.

Oddly enough my 3 month old desire lost the village I live in and reverted to "current location" at the same time as everyone else here, but my wife's brand new wildfire shows "cuckmere valley" which is the correct collective term for the area in which we live. Go figure !

I used to get either the town I work in or the next village over when at home.

The town i work in is still on the list of cities, but I now only get UK as current.

Does anyone know if something has been changed by HTC recently?

Yes something has changed because many users are getting this when it worked well previously. There's a thread about it here http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/119114-htc-weather-widget-broken.html Definitely contact HTC about it as they are supposed to be working on a fix.

Have owned my HTC Desire about 8 weeks now. Love it, but it no longer knows my location :mad:

. This is the reason why my weather widget no longer functions properly.

My phone thinks I am in Bury St Edmunds (well I was about 4 hours ago) and shows me the current weather for that location.

ALSO

If I go into Google maps and show my location. That also shows my location as Bury St Edmunds. I guess that is why the wrong weather location is shown :thinking:

Something is broken. Hope it will be fixed sometime soon.

Same problem here. Shows either United Kingdom with weather, or location only, no weather. Never had problems with this until a week or so ago. No idea what has happened. Soft reset solved nothing, and I CBA with hard reset for the weather app alone. I'd dump it off the main screen, but I do like the digital clock with weather widget.
