Accessories Custom Made Incredible Dock

I agree with you guys even though the original is more complicated, I think it fits with the DROID theme. If you think of a DROID(Robot), there is alot of moving. I like "silverxbv2" idea for the simplicity and might offer that at a discount price.

The first run will most certainly be the design I settled on however ;-).

Another thing that I totally spaced out was.......Hmmmmm shipping boxes.

So yet another order was placed this morning lol.

Do you mean something like this? That is much simpler design indeed. Hmmmmm. *thinking*

We are all kind of brainstorming and throwing around ideas in this thread so your input is well appreciated. I want to make something that everyone would be proud to put on his or her desk.

Yes you nailed it. Your original is badass. But being an auto mechanic, I know that the more screws you have, the more people will tinker and strip them out, myself included. The oval section should be a bit more square-ish, but you got the idea. Pm your email. I'd like to give more details.

All I can say is every device takes on a journey till its released. Without the journey, you can't have improvement and perfection. I'm sure the released cradle will contain form and function while maintaining afford-ability.

I understand that. I also understand that he's got to be able to build them to be affordable. Now they're not going to be engraved (possibly a custom option) and the design is changing (some may think for the better). It's fine. I'm just losing a little interest. Maybe it's just the 3D drawings. Once I see a real photo it's possible my opinion will change.

This really isn't the place for back and forth bickering, so I'll just drop it.

Either way, there is no doubt he does quality work.

EDIT: I think my main contention of dis-satisfaction is with all the screws. I realize it's probably a lot easier to fabricate this way but (IMHO) it takes away from the aesthetics. The first angled dock that was one piece is still by far my favorite.

Of course, sometimes with 'design by committee' you end up with less than desired results as well. As the old saying goes, "a camel is a horse designed by committee"

I understand the concerns that is why I am making no more changes. If I keep making changes this thing is never going to be built. All of the suggestions have been very helpful, but at some point you have to settle on a design and go with it.

I think for the most part the original design with a slight 10 degree angle would have been suffice for probably 90% of folks, but the pivot is really cool idea.

Also... received part of my supplies today. Still no metal yet

@ Stride

I totally understand where you are comming from brotha. I think you will like the finished design though ;-).

I like the original design with the tweaks suggestions to make it pivot. Can't wait till it's done!

I agree about the original design, I think it looks better. The second one isn't bad... it's just simple and I guess a little boring. The pivot was an excellent suggestion though =)

Like I said, the only thing I don't care for is the backrest but I understand why you are doing it (to ease some people's concerns). Just make sure it's removable and i'll take it off when I get it, no problem at all.

Great work. Been pretty busy at work and haven't had time to jump on here this week to check progress. I'll definitely be looking for a couple of these.

With the Christmas tree clamp, will the TV-out cable still work if you use a power cable as well? It doesn't look like there is enough room for the power cable to come out of the side of the TV-out cable if it is in the clamp. Maybe if one side of the clamp was removed, you could still slide a power cable into the TV-out.

I think a few folks are freaking out because they aren't able to envision what the final product will look like with the screws and pivots. For me, they add an industrial edge to the design and I love the way they look. It looks like it could almost start walking on it's own :)

I'm with Terabethia on the backrest; I don't really care for it, but understand why it's included.

It looks like an afterthought to me and I don't like the idea of having to bend it (so I'll probably just remove it as well). Or maybe I'll change my mind when I get it. But I'm nitpicking a bit here on this last part.

Awesome work man.

I didn't know original design with slight tilt was an option. That's the way to go right there. I was just not feelin all the screws. Is that the design you're goin with?

Yes. I am going to make up a few without the tilt pivot point. I will use a 10 to 15 degree pivot. There will still be 2 screws in each side however.

Hmmmm. Can you post a pic of the cable you are talking about.

I agree with you also. It is almost useless and it is an after thought.
