EVO 4G's Android 2.2 update starts trickling out July 30 (official OTA August 3rd)

Now you're just pandering like a child. It's pretty clear you didn't know anything about the original release. You also still fail to grasp what they are saying. it isn't leaked. Its the final build. They are allowing manual updates to verify its working properly. Let me know if you need further explanation.

Um...

I think he meant the Sprint release document was leaked, NOT the update itself.

That means it's not always the best source to go by. Or at least I'm assuming that's what his point was.

Same here! If they are doing it for the desire why wouldnt they have it or the evo.

We'll know soon enough. ;)

Meanwhile - if we don't get it first, it could be due to the fact that the iTunes Music Store is constantly hassled by various EU members in court for the whole closed garden thing. A few of those cases had merit, some were just whining and the govt(s) involved got tossed out.

Ah - the mysteries of HTC corporate.

Dudes.

It will be available at noon CST today.

It will break root.

It will disable WiFi tethering

It will be available as a pushed OTA August 3rd.

Now, everyone go rub one out/go for a walk/eat breakfast and come back in a couple of hours. Sweet Jesus some of you need to chill out.

With that said, I'll wait a day or tow before I grab the update.

I've seen a few times on this thread that a stock ROM is recommended before installing the update. I rooted with unrevoked3 (just for wireless tether really) and am still running my stock ROM. There hasn't been any mention of whether we should unroot before going FroYo.

So, would it be best for me to unroot before doing the update, even if I'm still on that stock ROM?

(Not in a hurry since I do want to see when xda can root it so I can get my wifi back, but just curious.)

You have to unroot or you wont get the update or can't manually update it. If your rooted you can always wait till someone roots it and makes a rom.

I just farted.
Well, it seems that some refuse to heed my last post
Enough of the bad language and rude inappropriate unnecessary comments. Quite a few posts have been removed and I will go through it also to make sure this thread stays clean and on topic.
If it continues, infractions will commence.
Therefore, next person that does will be given a 1 day ban. No infraction, no more warnings.

I think your best bet would be to wait and see what the XDA geniuses - or other users in the coming days - have to say.

I should think any other opinion is simply dangerous guessing at this point - but someone with better info may know more.

Keeping my fingers crossed on this one! It'd definitely be a win for media management on the EVO (for those of us that use iTunes, of course, which includes almost anybody migrating to EVO from an iPhone :) )

Yup that's right, i did download a software from the market but this will probably work better and it should be a non brainer for HTC to keep this phone alive longer, i mean Froyo is coming and all the goodies the phone already have it would make it even better

You have to unroot or you wont get the update or can't manually update it. If your rooted you can always wait till someone roots it and makes a rom.

As you can see, I was unclear on that myself.

What you said was my original understanding, but then the 1.47.yadda update overlaid stock rooted rom'd phones and those worked, just lost root...

I get confused by the process, I really do.

Oh yeah - I just noticed my thinking on this always warps to stock rooted rom whether that's the question or not....

 - my usual state. :)

I'm confused now. Well i remember reading something about stock rooted roms will prompt you to update but it never goes through. I read soo much stuff if you ask me where i read that i will just point to XDA. Let's just leave it at wait till a rooted stock rom is made.
