Help Possible Battery Fix from HTC

How did people get 2.2? I been hitting htc update and firmware update twice a day and can't get it.

Here's the link with helpful instructions at top, and there's another post a little further in with with a step-by-step in pictures.

The original file's been taken down, so you want to follow the instructions looking for it on a mirror site.

If you try a little, and still can't find it, post back in THAT thread and one of us will gladly help out.

And don't get discouraged by people giving you a hard time over an honest question. We all get that.

This is the battery thread, so I won't be looking for your questions on that here.

PS - EDIT - that thread's updated, follow the link at top that says EVO to get the file, and you won't have to rename it.

For those having an issue with significant battery drain after installing Froyo, uninstall the app 'LED Light'. This app was breaking my camera and causing my phone to be always on. After I first installed Froyo, my camera and battery was fine, but about 3 or 4 hours later, my camera was broke and my phone was always on.

Why should we uninstall apps and adjust/optimize feature settings just to save battery life? HTC should have done that from the get-go. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that there is something wrong with the battery life with the Evo. Yes, yes there are those with 3-4 day battery life duration albeit in idle mode. The draining problem still persists even with the Froyo update.

Not certain that you were referring to my pic of 88hrs in 1 charge, but outside or work/sleep it wasnt "idle" .... Anyways, checked everything suggested here, CDMA wasnt changed for me, all my auto-sync was disabled still, no settings had been changed for me upgrading, but - Im getting about 2/3 the battery life that I was. I dont see any other apps running that hadnt been, I havent changed ANYTHING but Froyo. Regardless, not complaining, love the update, just dislike the battery life a lil more, hopefully its fixed in the official release!

My battery life has increased significantly. Without scientific tests I would say its doubled, if not more. I have no clue how to do specific testing, so this is coming from someone who's had the phone for 2 months and absolutely hated the battery life (but loved the phone). The WiFi is so much better too. Both issues were a worry to me, and I'm so happy with the update.

I'm dropping down to 89% in 30 minutes now doing nothing.... I think I'll try EarlyMon's suggestion of turning off background data and auto sync to see if it improves.

I'm on Ava's .1 rooted though, not sure if it makes a difference. I haven't upped to netarchy's .3 since the "official" release is around the corner anyway so I figured I'd just wait... I did update my radio to .28 though

Turn off background data and auto-sync for now.

You may have something stuck syncing behind your back.

Same thing happened to me in 2.1.

Try it for a few hours, see if the problem goes away.

I deleted apps and widgets 1 by 1, still had the issue.

I turned off each thing that syncs, one by one. Stlil had the issue.

Turned off background sync altogether, still issue.

I disabled almost every single service and app running (every app on the phone starts at bootup, even if i dont open them), STILL had the issue

I factory reset the phone and...still have the issue.

Doesn't turning off background data stop gmail, weather, and stocks and everything else to stop sending. How could this be seen as a possible fix.

Their maybe an app stuck trying to sync in the background since the up date..

Turning off the background data stops the sync process and might give the app a chance to correct itself..
