Downside to purchasing through Wirefly?

So I received my EVO from wirefly today, 7/20 which is great, but they are telling me it won't be activated until 7/22.... What's the point of having the phone if I can't use it?

Is there any way I can get it activated sooner? I called wirefly customer service and they are saying I just have to wait for 2 days...

Can you PM me your order number? Let me see what we can do for you.

My order was approved and awaiting stock as of 7/11. The website showed 2-3 week estimate when I ordered which was fine. I received an e-mail from wirefly on 7/13 saying my order would ship out within one week. Now it is 7/21 and I am being told that it will be 2-3 more weeks. I don't mind waiting but I do mind being run around. Inches away from canceling my order.

Please PM me your order number so I can find out what happened.

Hi,

I have a question regarding my contract from Wirefly. Bought an HTC Aria. I called up AT&T, and one of the managers actually removed the data plan from existing plan though I had to take a data plan for purchasing the phone from Wirefly. Will wirelfy charge me $300 for doing so?

There's not enough information here for me to know whether AT&T would consider this to be a deactivation, but if you send me your order number, I would be happy to look things up and follow up with you.

Placed an order for 2 Evos on 7/23. The website said 3-4 weeks at the time of order. Is this likely to hold, or is that possibly an under-promise/over-deliver situation?

I know this has nothing to do with Wirefly, but a 4 week backorder on a new product suggests a really dysfunctional production process.

We anticipate that your order will be shipped within 3-4 weeks from the time your order is approved by Sprint.

Received my Evo on 8/3 but still not able to activate the phone, please help.

Call Sprint, they will guide you through the Activation process.

When I got my first batch of two evos, I didn't bother activating the one handset because it had a physical defect, but the other one didn't activate automatically as the paper indicated it would. Despite the warning paper saying not to call Sprint, I called Wirefly customer service and they told me to call Sprint to activate the phone.

The replacement handset that was sent to me was activated automatically within 30 minutes of FedEx delivering the package; I went to use my existing handset and couldn't make a call; then when I called Sprint about it, they told me that my EVO had already been activated.

SO you should be able to call Sprint and they'll walk you through the activation process, and as an added benefit you get your MSL too.

I just purchased an EVO through Wirefly just over a month ago and I like the phone, however my employer may be relocating me outside the USA where there's no Sprint service. Has anyone gone through something similar?

My employer will most likely pay the $200 ETF for Sprint, however Wirefly has a policy where if you cancel your service within 180 days, they will charge you a $300 fee. That's $500 in fees, on top of the $139 I paid for the handset ($189-$50 bing cashback). Now if I had just purchased the phone through Sprint, wouldn't I just be dealing with the $200 ETF?

I don't think I could sell the phone to cover my costs ($200 sprint ETF + $300 wirefly fee + $139 for the handset).
