Chrome To Phone: Anybody Using it?

Yeah, I would think it would be extremely useful when you need information for on the road, like a map or any details pertaining to something you are doing. Sweet!

This is just about the only thing it seems like it would be good for. Really though, Google voice search works faster.

*edit* rmmorse81 finding the send to clipboard feature may just be the push I need to install this.

Ive been playing around with this for the last hour and can confirm that its pretty damn sweet.

You can even select text on the page, copy it, and hit the extension button. it sends that text to the phone clipboard.

Also, copying phone numbers and sending it auto launches the phone app.

Damn sweet..!

Yeah, this is just the beginning of what will be able to work with this. Desktop app developers can add this to their apps as well.

Here is a list of what should work:

- Send browser links from Chrome to your phone.
- Google Maps links launch the Google Maps application on Android.
- YouTube links launch the YouTube application on Android.
- Selecting a phone number will automatically launch the dialer with the number populated.
- Selecting text on a Web page will copy the clipboard to Android (long press a text box to paste on Android).

I also found in Firefox that I could right-click on a graphic and send the graphic to the phone (sends the web link to the graphic that you can then long press on to save). Chrome doesn't have it in the context menu.

Here's another thing I found in Firefox...

If you search for a business in Google and the results shows a map, under the name will be a link that says "Place page". Right-click that link and send it to the phone. The phone will ask you if you want to open it in the browser(s) or navigation apps.

So I have installed on Firefox and my phone. I sent the link from a webpage using the icon in the top right, and when it got to the phone it automatically opened up the browser to the page. I was under the impression it would send a notification that I could open later?

Perhaps I installed wrong (selected incorrect settings)?

Disregard, figured it out.....

You have to change it to manual in the chrome to phone app

Great feature, just tried it on my phone.

Here is something I am REALLY looking for: A way to have different people send me links/maps through this method. I am on the road all day for work and when someone in the office needs to send me a map/link they could do it.

Cause from what I see currently the only way to send links is to be logged in to MY email and send it from MY web browser.

Anyone know if you can have different people send you information? (obviously you can through email, im specifically asking about this method)

Only if you give them your login. I wouldn't want just anyone to be sending me links to my phone. Spammers would have a field day with that!

I thought there was a way to set up multiple phones on one browser but since I only have one, I haven't looked too hard.

It would be cool if you could authorize certain people to send certain types of info. For example my buddy and I text back and forth about all kinds of things, very often involving certain web pages. It would be very convenient for me to authorize him to be able to send HTML links only. If the app allowed this an authorization of a particular individual could be removed as easily as it was added, preventing any potential disasters. Not sure if this would ever happen but it sounds potentially useful.

Awesome find man! How does the phone number thing work though ? Like, do you have to copy and paste the phone number to make it show up on the evo or does the phone number have to be in a link form to work ?
