Multimedia Charging Dock w Froyo

It is no secret that the Froyo update we are using has a different docking app. (Nexus One?)

Two interesting things:

1. There are dock settings now (Audio settings greyed out & docking sound)

2. I'm not opposed to the new look - however, is there any way to keep it on screen? The stupid green screen saver appears after a while, and I can't read it at night (yes I'm blind - but that's why I like the old Motorola one so much)

That does it for me too! Thank you! Dims slightly but still viewable.

Damnit, nevermind. It took awhile longer but eventually it does go black.

Really? Mine's been fine on its own for at least 30 minutes. I'll have to let it go idle longer than that to see what I get. I wonder if the Dock screen is part of it, I had my music player up and then my text window up when I ran the test.

Settings->Applications->Development->Stay Awake

I did this when I first had the problem (i.e., right after getting froyo). It doesn't stop the media dock screen from going all screensaver on me.

If I have the music player on, the music player stays up indefinitely. But somehow, this setting does not stop the dock (standing alone) from going to the screensaver.

(I can't believe there's no app for this -- it certainly seems like the sort of thing a developer should be able to do.)

ah man, i hope someone figures this out or makes an app. I have to agree, the fact that I can't see notifications when it's in the dock is irritating as heck. I wouldn't mind being able to tap the screen so it went to the black and green at night when its by my bed side, but at my desk I need to see when notifications come in and I'm not going to tap my phone every 30 minutes just to check it. how frustrating.

i'll be keeping an eye on this thread for a solution.

I am going to try this 3rd party app as I want that screen saver to go away.

funny how they gave us "dock settings" and no ability to set the screen saver on/off or timeout settings in the dock??

anyone know of a root option to stop this?

The CM6 Version I believe has options for this; unfortunately, none of them can turn it off completely. Max timeout is 60 mins. Not only does it have options to set the timeout duration, you can change the color of the screensaver itself.

Default CM screensaver is, naturally, cyan. This was too bright for me at night, so I went with a stock-ish green, but much more dim.
