I get "android.process.acore" errors, where you get a popup telling you to force it to close.

This happens on first touch after power on (whether it is immediately, or you let the phone power on, lock and then unlock it).

It's then on the first time time you touch the notification bar, and in some applications (HTC Peep, People, Sesmic).

Haven't seen anyone else report it, but I'm an Australian user with a UK purchased 3week old desire. Stock condition, I haven't even got aorudn to replacing the 4Gb Sd card.

I get the same error message alot as well, but it doesn't seem to affect anything

Ever since I installed Froyo, i've noticed a couple of things

My Desire is a bit snappier, but sometimes the browser lags.

I no longer have my push email from gmail. Before I was notified the second I got an email, but now I rarely ever got notified, even after an hour when it's supposed to automatically sink. and when i manually refresh, it still doesn't pick up any new emails! Not good!

HTC Desire, updated to 2.2

- HTC News widget still doesn't update automatically
- Facebook (FriendStream) still shows connection error when I try to sync firends list or enter a profile. When it did work, still had problems, didn't sync all firends, some kept being left out
- On 2.1 when I was receiving a call I had two buttons (red - decline, green - accept). With 2.2 this changed to a bar which I swipe down to accept or up to decline. Today, it suddenly, on its own, switched to buttons, then after a while switched back to the bar. Didn't do anything, didn't reset the phone.
- Am I the only one that's missing (needs/uses) < and > characters? Why aren't they on the keyboard?
- People (contacts) - I used to be able to enter a contact then tap on the top bar showing the picture and name. It would bring me to choose which name (of all linked contacts) I want to choose to be displayed (this didn't work too well on 2.1 as it sometimes kept switching back on its own), or tap the image and choose the image I want to use (of all available from linked contacts, FB, Gmail etc). This now longer works.

AFAIK this is down to whether or not the phone is in sleep\standby (whatever you want to call it) If the screen is switched off you get the slider (i would say to lessen the chance of answering the call in your pocket) and if you happen to be using the phone when the call arrives you get the buttons. Was the same for me in 2.1.

I was certain I'd seen another post on this, but can't find it.

Since Froyo, my camera doesn't work with flash. Even at 90% battery I get this message:

Flash is disabled due to low battery power, cold weather, or a running application that uses a lot of power, like Wi-Fi hotspot and phone.

I haven't got a LED flash torch thing - I uninstalled that before updating to 2.2. Ideas?

Nope. :( [and both gps and wifi are off]
Nothing that I didn't have running with 2.1.

I've killed runkeeper - though that didn't block camera before.

Turned it off and on - same issue. Noticed as it booted up the icon thing for the wifi hotspot came on - but then that went a moment later. (It's set not to be on!)

FIXED: It was the wi-fi hotspot. For some reason it kept turning itself on - every time I'd uncheck it, go out, but it would be rechecked when it went back in. Somehow I managed to make the unchecking stick (not sure how), and it's now fine. *cross fingers*

I still get these otions after I go into a contact and select the Linked icon in the top right-hand corner.

Any help appreciated.

Hi.
I had the same problem, and i fixed it.
You should unroot your desire.
Here are the link, where you can find how to unroot your device:
How To: Unroot the HTC Desire | TheUnlockr
Then you can update the soft.

I have an unbranded, factory unlocked HTC Desire and really wish I hadn't updated to 2.2! Its a slower version of 2.1 IMO

1) 720p recording is pointless because the framerate is so low.

2) Calendar syncing seems messed up now, every once in a while, I get a syncing error with it.

3) The most irritating bug for me is in the web browser, scrolling normal web pages is much more laggy. It feels like I'm using the ipod touch V1! Browsing mobile wap sites isnt much of an issue

4) Company Directory still shows up 0 contacts

5) The compass on the maps is no where near accurate anymore

If you haven't got the update, don't worry, I would say keep 2.1!

PS - I've done a few factory resets to see if that would fix the issues, but it hasn't.

Change your SD card if you have class 2, HD video is perfectly work in class 6. class 2 doesn't support well for HD video.

I also have the stupid email problem on pop accounts - as soon as I go in and look at an email, come out of it, then go back in again, within a few seconds the email or emails vanish before my eyes. I have had to disable the email account (my main one) to avoid deleting important emails. I hope this problem gets sorted out as my provider does not do IMAP and I am not about to change email accounts !

For those having problems with push Gmail on accounts other than the primary account, Google have acknowledged the problem and are in discussions with HTC.

Google Mobile Help

Ethan the Google Mobile Help employee said:
Hi folks,

Thanks for your reports. We're right now looking into a general issue affecting the ability of additional accounts to auto-sync on some HTC devices with the latest version of the Android firmware.

To summarize what you've been reporting, this means if you have a device such as the HTC EVO 4G or HTC Desire, and you've recently updated your firmware to version 2.2, then auto-sync may only work for one account on your device -- the 'primary' account -- and not for any subsequent accounts you may have added to your phone.

In the meantime, you can still use Gmail on these devices with your additional account(s), but you'll have to manually check for new mail (Press <Menu>, then select Refresh).

We're in touch with HTC on this issue, and I'll be sure to update this post when I have news to share.

Regards,
Ethan
He also provides a workaround, but this does not appear to restart the auto sync, rather it just forces one sync then and there.

Hopefully they'll find a fix soon as it is a pretty serious flaw for this type of phone.

Anyone know how to see only those apps stored on the phone rather than SD card?

With Froyo on my sim free Desire, I've moved a couple of apps to the SD card (which helps a lot- I don't need to unistall so many when loading new apps). However, in the 'Manage apps' option I can see either:
1) all apps (SD card and on phone)
2) all apps on the SD card.

There isn't an option (as far as I can see) to list only those apps that are on the phone. That would be handy because those are the ones I need to decide whether to keep or remove (not every app has been updated yet to allow it to be moved to the SD card).

I'm getting a couple of small problems with Beyondpod which I didn't have before. Crashed once when going to the next podcasts on a playlist (can't recreate it). And when updating my podcasts on wifi and listening to a podcasts the audio gets interrupted every so often.

I only have one gmail account using the google mail app, so I can't confirm any push problems. I don't have any issues with my sole account, and still receive e-mails instantly.

I was having problems with checking my labels though. Basically, I didn't seem to be able to view any mail labels (eg Hullomail). It just kept saying "loading conversations" forever. I then noticed that there are now additional options under More>Settings>Labels

YOu can now set the number of days to sync, and a lot of my labels were set to "Sync None". I have since changed them to Sync All or Sync 4 Days and can now view all my labels. OF interest is that Inbox is also one of the Sync options. If anyone is having problems with Push gmail, perhaps they could check that the Inbox is set to Sync All or Sync 4 days.

Just a thought. Let me know if this makes a difference to people having problems

Froyo has removed the "hide keypad" button from the redesigned "Phone" and "Compact QWERTY" keypads, but it's still there on the "QWERTY" keypad.

I use the Phone keypad when in "phone" orientation, and some apps don't have heaps of screen space, so I really need to be able to hide the keypad.

I think there are some other dodgy issues with the new keypad implementations. The other day I was using my Desire to write a forum post and there was a big black empty area between the QWERTY keypad and the webpage that disappeared whenever the keyboard was hidden. Can't seem to replicate it now, but it wasn't part of the webpage.

Install an app called "App 2 SD" it make things a whole lot easier for swapping between phone\sd

Has anyone found where this is hiding? I can't check my backup settings anymore!!

They should still be the same but you can check by doing the following.

Menu --> Settings --> Search --> Searchable Items --> Tick Settings

Search button --> Change the little icon to the left of the search bar from the Google icon to the Settings Cog -->Type "privacy" it should appear in there

I've come across a few problems since upgrading..

1. Wifi doesn't detect my home Wifi after leaving and coming back. I have to turn wifi off/on to get it detect it.

2. Full screen weather app when you scroll to it sometimes says its updating the just goes blank and doesn't respond to being pressed. I have to remove/re-add the widget to get to come back. Full screen News and Bookmarks widget have done the same, but only once or twice.

3. Messages has to force close a few times per day.

Apart from those three things I've found, so far, it feels much faster.
