New update 2.05.405.2 available ota

One thing I've noticed...

After updating to 2.05.405.2, threads for messages [i.e. SMS] always start at the top of the thread so I need to scroll all the way down to see the most recent/new ones. A real hassle with those long threads!!

Has anyone managed to get this problem with opening up SMS threads at the oldest first because this is really bugging me after only a short time

Hello people.

Handset: HTC Legend
Firmware: 2.1-update1

Problems:

1. SMS messages are listed in wrong order. Eldest msg coming up first. Means you have to scroll through hundreds of txts to get to newest messages.

2. Phone constantly asks for courier confirmation after restarting phone.

Both problems not hugely critical - but massively annoying!

HTC are really dropping the ball with late software updates (hello android 2.2) and now faulty software updates!

I have sent a new message to HTC support reporting the problems.

If anyone gets a meaningful reply please can you repost it here! Thanks :]

Helly everybody.

I just have the same problems with the messaging. Lucily I havent got any problems with WIFI or sim-card.
But the messaging problem, showing the oldes first, is REALLY REALLY annoying. So I too have written to HTC. Waiting for their reply.

Lets put some pressure on these slackers!
(you'd think that such a big company tested their software properly, before releasing it, right?)

BTW, Is there a way to uninstall the update, without hacking the phone??

Cheers,
Mark

Hello.

My first post here :)

I have installed the update on my Legend, and have some observations.

The SMS error is present here to. I have resorted to using HandCent, but would like to go back to the original SMS program, since I like its layout better (allthough handcent has some nice extra features). This is something HTC has to fix ASAP!

I also have the problem where the phone asks for me to choose network operator after reboots. Not a big problem, but annoying nonetheless.

As to othx's (and others) reports about bad battery life, I have seen the opposite. My times have improved quite a bit. I would guess about 20% more time on one charge.

Previously it would sometimes happen that the phone drained itself very fast, where it was completely idle. For example, it could from 60% when I went to bed, and to 10% when I woke up. I havent seen this with the new firmware yet, but have only been running it a few days.

In gerneral though I'm pretty happy with this update. I find the phone more smooth to work with, and generally more responsive. If only they hadn't introduced the SMS error, i would be perfectly satisfied, but that one error ruins much of what has been improved.

Hi
I've also updated, and now have the SMS-problem.

I've contacted HTC and got a quick response, that they would escalate the problem, and get back to me.
To my surprise, today I recieved a mail saying that my problem was solved. This of course is not correct, and I've contacted HTC to get an answer on why my case is closed without being solved, and when the SMS-problem will be fixed.

Has anyone tried if a hard reset will rectify the problem?

I don't think I have the sms problem! I have looked at this a couple of times without noticing wether there had been any change to how it was working before and couldn't really recall any difference and certainly nothing that would upset me! Yesterday I installed Handcent sms just to see if my memory had failed me and I wasn't understanding the issues you guys are having but Handsent performs identical to stock htc sms application so it would appear I have been lucky! Messages appear in the most logical order as far as I can tell! If someone would like to clarify?

During the night of the upgrade, almost 1 gb of data was downloaded to my phone. Luckily, 3G Watchdog stopped the download before it exceeded my 1 gb limit. I called Bell and told the tech that this must have been related to the upgrade (possible re-tries?) and asked him to investigate. His findings were inconclusive - he said that the data was probably the upgrade but could not confirm it. He then told me that normally software upgrades do not appear in billed data, but that I shoulde call back when I get my bill if it is not removed (it would then "possibly" be removed manually). However, he could not guarantee that it would in fact be removed when I call them. So, I'm stuck for the next 3 weeks with only a small amount of room left in my data plan. Just wondering if anyone else experienced such large downloads during their upgrade. I normally run max 10 mb per day......tx

Mine's an unbranded SEA region unit and I made the mistake of upgrading to 2.05.707.1 OTA via WiFi. I'm also getting the issue with oldest message displayed first on the message app, and it is annoying the hell out of me. I haven't made a proper observation of battery life, but it appears to have worsened for me. :(

I'm on 1.31.405.5 but not prompted for this update, and when i tried checking for software update, nothing is available too.

can you guys tell me which ROM version did you upgrade from?

I have the same exact problem! Strangest part is that my girlfriend (she has the same phone) got the update! And as I found out this is not the only update I'm missing !!! The 1.31.405.5 is from May and there is one 2.03.something.something from JUNE!!! I wrote to HTC and am waiting for a reply!

Hi all,

Having the same problems with older messages being shown first on phone. Cant say I've noticed any problems with wi-fi. Although at times when I am on the internet the page can just automatically shut down. Not a major issue but is one that highly enrages me

Have e-mailled HTC and awaiting a reply suppose the more people that contact them about it then it might push them to do something.

Very disappointed with this. Phone was fine until update

guys i have a htc legend from virgin canada and it shipped with this sms time bug...look on the market for 'sms time fix' - worked out great for me

really looking forward to getting froyo on this...hope it comes out soon

Does it fix the daylight savings time for the entire OS? When I set up world clocks, Nova Scotia is the same timezone as Toronto... major pain in the rear.
