Regarding the dont factory wipe 2.1 sticky.

I did a factory reset on my Dinc yesterday and lost my Mobile network. This was the first factory reset I had to do as I was having issues with my people app and had to reset to correct the problem. I was on the phone with a Verizon tech for almost two hours trying to get my mobile network working and we ended up just ordering me a replacement phone. The tech thought it could have been an issue since I was an Alltel customer and I havn't fully been converted to Verizon as of yet (I still have an Alltel phone plan) but they checked all the settings on Verizon's end and my Inc end (calling *228 several times going through the set up process) and was never able to get the mobile network working.

So i'm waiting on my replacement to come tomorrow.

That is very interesting. I'm still on an Alltel plan.

I had to do a factory reset because of the low space error message. After the factory reset, it would not connect to the network (No 3G icon). Therefore, I could not sync with Google.

I called tech and they walked me through *228 option 1. Then, they had me go in ##778 to and enter my number in the MDN, MIN1 and MIN2.

Phone and text are working because it's on the phone side of the network house...according to the tech.

Are you a former Alltel customer?

I think there is some connection with Alltel customer's still on the Alltel plan and factory resets but not sure how that would cause the mobile network to stop working unless it is on the verizon end and the phone is not actually "authorized" for the data so that's why we keep getting the constant "turning on..." for mobile data.

Here is the screenshot of what it is doing:

Notice that Mobile network is faded out.

Yep. I had an Alltel device and said I could upgrade while staying on my current plan. So, I kept the Alltel plan.

I really think there is some setting either on the phone or at verizon that is causing this. I don't think I have a defective device and I would LOVE to keep mine phone. I have a replacement coming tomorrow and I know it is a factory refurbished one but i have read where folks are getting worse phones then what they were turning in.

I have one coming tomorrow too. I had mine since launch day and hate the fact that I could be getting a 2nd hand phone with another dude's ear funk, cheek oil and spit.

once yours comes in do the ##778 and view mode and click display and at the bottom it will tell you if its refurbished or not.

if you go to settins>about phone> networks it should tell you what CDMA you are using.

I agree. I have had mine since May 27th and I really think it is a setting issue.

I just don't see how this is any different when I received the phone the first time. I had to do the same activation. Factory reset should be just like the day I got my phone.

CDMA - EvDO rev.A

This has to be a problem for the old Alltel customers i wonder if anyone else is having this problem with a straight up verizon wireless plan. I wonder if it has something to do with your phone numbers being ported from Alltel to VZW. Did they give you new numbers when they switched?

It is the same number.

No i have had this cell number since 1993. Was formely GTE and then Alltel and now Verizon.

I agree, i believe it has to do with the fact that we have a heritage verizon phone on a heritage Alltel plan. I bet if my plan was switched to a verizon plan it would fix this issue but my monthly bill will go up about $25 if I switched so I'm trying to ride this Alltel plan as long as I can.

i found this in another thread.

I did a factory reset yesterday and the 3g didn't come on.....what I did to fix it was go to settings, Wireless & Networks, Mobile Networks, System Select, Change from Automatic to Home, and then changed back from Home to Automatic and within a couple seconds 3G came back up. If you did the reset and have no 3G give that a try.

The Verizon Tech I talked to yesterday said that with the former Alltel people they have to program the phones a special way and that's why I had to go to ##778 and fix the MDN, MIN1, MIN2 because the factory default doesn't do it automatically for the Alltel users. But they were stumped as to why the mobile network didn't come back.

Are you in FL?
