Help Possible Battery Fix from HTC

i have two facebook apps. facebook for htc and facebook. both are running. which one is causing the problem and which one should be updated? (and what is the update number). and i don't think i need both, but i can't uninstall either.

One of those apps is Friend Stream, right? (it's also a twitter app) then you have the official facebook app. Friend Stream takes you to your internet browser if you try to visit a friend's profile so I wouldn't really call it a Facebook app.

So yeah he was taking about the facebook app with the actual Facebook icon

Yeah I got the FB update last night but when I closed out the app before and logged out it made me relog in on the internet. My email and pasword weren't saved. But when I went under running apps to fore close the other day I saw a FB and one that said FB for HTC Sense. My battery went from overnight unplugged to 70% to this am it was on 92% after the update.

Try doing a 'Profile Update'. That fixed a lot of the miscellaneous issues with my 2.2 update including battery life.

Well, I ran the profile update and I'm not sure if that fixed it or if the battery was already on its way to being fixed, but it's fine now. In fact, I'd estimate the battery life might have increased by as much as third since 2.1. :)

it says on sites that this is a big battery saver. But does it affect anything to turn it off? here is what it says

4. Disable "always on" mobile data. This is one of the biggest battery savers. Go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks. Tap "Enable always-on mobile data" to uncheck the box. I haven't found a negative consequence of disabling this feature, as Gmail and other apps/functions still work perfectly

I have had this turned off for a while now and since then, I have not noticed a single thing with my phone. One thing though, your post is titled "disable mobile networks." This, I believe actually means turning off 3g, which is different than what you're talking about in your post. On that note though, if you are looking to save battery, turning off the 3g while not in use saves a good amount of battery for me.
While at work, I turn off 3g and over the course of about 8 hours, I only lose about 3% to 6% of my battery.of course, this is coupled with other battery saving tricks though.

What exactally does the widget do? Does it turn off 3G just internet or emails and texting too? Cause I have my enable mobile data always on unchecked I think cause someone said it's better for battery. But then I saw this mobile data widget and wasn't sure what all it turned off.

Yep Yep. This also works. Im too lazy to hold it down though lol. So i just use the widget. But if you're not using sense this is the way

Can someone explain this battery saving tip to me? I don't understand how this is a good idea (even though it claims not to have a negative effect)...

3% over 8 hours? Are you rooted and/or underclocking? Thats under .5% an hour, best I've ever got was about .75% not rooted before 2.2. Thanks, been curious if underclocking while idle is that big or not.

can someone explain to me what "Cell Standby" is doing? my “Cell Standby” meter in my battery history is always higher than anything else. I haven’t actually talked on the phone in a day or so yet thats at 34% and my “Android System” is at 31%. Can someone explain what’s wrong? When I performed a factory reset the phone sleeps the way it's suppose to and stops the awake time from running. I received a voice mail the next day and noticed that the phone was not sleeping after checking it. Now my cell standby time is sky high and I believe this is causing my phone to not sleep.

Yes the green charge light under the speaker grill..

So turn your phone on and charge it. the light goes green..

Immediately turn it off and charge it till the light goes green.

Turn it back on and charge it till it goes green..

I did it about 4-6 times per device

Repeat process and keep Wine glass full while waiting..

Someone asked the following question (but I did NOT see an answer in the forum):

How often does this "conditioning" need to be done? I have 3 batteries for my phone. Do I condition them ONCE in this matter and I'm done?? Am I conditioning THE PHONE and not necessarily an individual BATTERY so I only have to do it with ONE BATTERY?? Or do I have to do this occasionally, with ALL the batteries once a week?? Once a month?? How often??

THANKS and SORRY if this is a DUPE QUESTION!! I couldn't find in the 11+ pages in this forum

LOL, that battery charging voodoo is for rookies. Lithium ion batteries need to be charged for about 11 hours upon using the battery. The phone should be off and let the battery charge so it will reach its maximum charging capacity. You do not want to charge a new lithium ion battery until the light on the phone turns green because the battery is not properly indicating to the phone its fully charged capacity. These were specific instructions for my Seidio 1750mah battery.

LITHIUM ION BATTERIES DO NOT NEED TO BE CONDITIONED!

How to Make Your Cell Phone Battery Last Longer - wikiHow

Initialize a new battery. New batteries should be fully charged before their first use to obtain maximum capacity. Nickel-based batteries should be charged for 16 hours initially and run through 2-4 full charge/full discharge cycles, while lithium ion batteries should be charged for about 5-6 hours. Ignore the phone telling you that the battery is full--this is normal but is not accurate if the battery is not initialized. #DO NOT fully discharge a lithium-ion battery! Unlike Ni-Cd batteries, lithium-ion batteries' life is shortened every time you fully discharge them. Instead, charge them when the battery meter shows one bar left. Lithium-ion batteries, like most rechargeable batteries have a set amount of chargers in them.

Constantly charging then unplugging the charger over and over again is for nickel batteries.....LOL

Doesn't anyone look at this thread and others and think it's certifiably insane that people consider this acceptable – that you should have to do this?

After getting this phone at launch, I'm nearly ruined on Android because of this babysitting you have to do. It's not acceptable.

The second iPhone hits a non-ATT carrier I'm paying my early termination fee and jumping. This phone is very cool, but it's useless when it's dead by 4pm when I haven't used it at all since 9am on a full charge.

Thanks to the original poster for taking the time, I'm going to try this stuff, but c'mon. He shouldn't have to spend the time making a huge forum post, and I shouldn't have to spend the time trying it.

There were threads exactly like this when the iPhone 3G came out. Apple even has similar tips on their website. Only getting 7 hours out of your EVO battery, however, sounds like you've got something wrong with your phone. I regularly get 30+ hours with regular usage and wifi, gps and bluetooth on all the time. I rarely use 4G, though.

It's not the phone for the 1000th time. It's the settings! Who is in charge of the settings on the phone? The user, not the phone!
Uhh, I dunno man. I have everything off except 3g at work and just by browsing online for 30 minutes, I drop about 15%, which is not that great. With 2.2 it manages well when it isnt in use, it is good at idling, but as soon as I actually use it, not very good.

I've followed every battery tip I found, so don't blame the user right off the bat.
