Okay, so I got this friend and this is a really funny story, maybe one part I am wrong on but I highly doubt it.
This friend uses a Droid Incredible. We'll call him "Dan".
So Dan texts me this morning "Did you see the news? S-Off"
me: No, what?
Dan: Security Off
Me: Elaborate Please
Dan: Full nand unlock for radios and Hboot
me: for what device or platforms?
Dan: the phone, mine and yours, all androids.
Dan: I might do it today not sure though
Dan: I'll have 720 recording after update and flash with camcorder
Dan: So what do you think
Me: What is your source?
Then he calls me... Tells me its going to give him full nand unlock, be able to flash radios, roms, blah blah blah. Then I said "Dan I've been able to do this for a month or more, we have had full nand unlock. What are you talking about?"
So then I finally found a moment to search and read (Unrevoked Forever brings radio S-OFF to HTC Incredible and Evo 4G) Unrevoked - Forever (S-OFF AND NAND UNLOCK TOOL) - Page 21 - xda-developers)
I realize it's not Full nand unlock - WE ALREADY HAVE THAT DAN! It's "permanant nand unlock" meaning simply that if you root a phone, then run the method to make "security off" then no matter what, you always have rooted phone. Whether you flash a stock OTA or whatever, it's always rooted and you have the ability to flash a new recovery and go back to custom rom.
So I tell Dan via text:
Me: as always, you give me bad informatio moron, this is getting ridiculous. Do you read articles in full before calling me or just the first three lines? The s-off simply sets the security to OFF permanantly.
Dan: I know what it does
Me: and by the way it's PERMANENT nand unlock not FULL nand unlock.
ME: No you have no idea what it does, what you have told me is completely wrong.
Dan: But it's a lot more for me.
Dan: B/c I never had full unlock
ME: I did, and thought you did.
Me: You told me it gives you 720 recording
Dan: I know
Dan: The radio will give me 720 Recording
Dan: So u don't know anything
Me: Radio? Radios have nothing to do with video. Kernels regulate software.
Me: it's very clear you are confused. It's not your fault, these things can be confusing. But please stop, it's really irritating.
Dan: You are wrong
Me: Dan you're telling me a radio is going to give you 720p recording. WRONG WRONG WRONG. Are we actually discussing this?
Dan: The new radio update gives me 720 recording and mobile hotspot
Me: Negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full
That's it. Am I incorrect or is this guy a fool?
