Incredible vs Droid 2

I like the look of sense, but I noticed at another Droid Forum that you can put something called Beautiful Widgets and LPro on it, so that's what I'd probably do. Is the D2 faster or more noob friendly?

Also, small question, is there a way to get a different back cover either on the internet something smooth instead of the DINC having that bumpy booty

User experience> hardware specs and benchmarks.

Thats a global truth.

If you have a Chevy Malibu that runs like a top, its going to be a hell of a lot more enjoyable than a Porsche that is barely running.

Except in real life you can fix the Porsche. Not so much with the Droid 2.

I agree with this 100%.

Its the reason why I went with the Dinc over the X. The scrolling in X is choppy...and it doesn't matter that the CPU and GPU are better.

Its also the reason why the iphone has been kicking butt over the past few years...the user experience was unmatched. The Dinc is the 1st phone to really stand up to it for me. The original Droid was good, but not great like the Dinc.

The Dinc is the 1st phone that I've had where I don't envy the iphone anymore. I am totally happy with this phone and love the speed, sense UI and form factor. The only issue I have with it, is the battery.

If replacing the launcher with Launcher Pro helps fix it, the Droid 2 can be fixed. Why? Cuz it made the X user experience a whole lot better.

Hardware specs>user experience to me if the hardware specs dictate better battery life and better reception, better call quality.

Its preference.....
To say user experience> hardware specs is preference, not global truth.

If its a global truth, no iPhone user would ever upgrade their phone to the newest one, that has hardware specs upgrades over previous models.

Everyone would be using an Eris, I mean it does have Sense UI right?

No one woulda jumped from the Droid to the Inc, not knowing how Sense UI was....everyone that had a Droid saw the hardware specs and decided they wanted an Inc.

If I was to try the Droid 2 and Inc and the Droid 2 gave me better reception, I would take the Droid 2 anyday. Its a preference of mine to have a phone with real good reception. I will never choose a phone that doesnt for now on.

Thats the only reason why I kept the X: it has better reception than the Droid. And my Droid had a Froyo baseband that had better reception than any baseband on 2.1

That hardware spec alone was my deciding reason for keeping the X, even if vanilla Android is better than Blur...

Oh and since user experience> hardware specs and benchmarks...like I mentioned before....I guess no one will want the HTC dual core phone coming out in the near future.....everyone will just stay with their Inc or Eris. U cant just dismiss hardware specs like it doesnt matter.

Plus just see threads of Inc owners that switched to the X....and are happy....there are some out there...lol

I think you are missing his point. A great user experience is the ultimate goal.

Just because you have better hardware, doesn't necessarily mean that you have a better experience. It CAN help deliver it, but thats not always the case.

Example:
I have a list of contacts that I want scroll through.

On phone A, the touchscreen is very responsive and the contacts scroll smoothly.

On phone B, the contacts scrolling is very choppy and glitchy.

Now what if I told you that phone A had a 400 mhz processor, compared to the 1 Ghz processor on phone B. Would you care about the specs then? That happens with devices...and its a very real situation.

Hardware specs have to be combined with great software and a great network in order to deliver a great phone.

Hardware specs get people excited because its something thats kinda tangible and can possibly drive a better user experience, but as I mentioned before, thats not always the case.

Case in Point: Read the reviews for the Samsung "Galaxy S" phones. The hummingbird processor is fast, yet the UI seems SLOW considering whats under the hood. I say, thats NOT good.

It has to be a nice balance, I agree. I think I can speak for most folks and say they will choose an Inc over an Eris tho...lol

Someone mentioned in another thread about WebOS, what some ppl consider the best mobile OS, on the Palm Pre/Pixi and Pre/Pixi Plus. But because its on shoddy hardware, it takes away from the user experience.

But when folks only mention scrolling home screens and the app drawer and a phone being laggy, that can be fixed with a 3rd party launcher. LP was a breath of fresh air the Droid. I'm only speaking from using an X, that some ppl complained is laggy n slow.

Only thing laggy n slow was stock home screen scrolling and the app drawer. (I had no lag issue with the stock app drawer) Both issues resolved with LP and maybe ADW. Everything else, like scrolling thru contacts, the settings is nice. Loading file explorers, nice. Loading apps, nice. Thats even with the sucky Blur UI on the X.

I would assume since the Droid 2 uses the same hardware it should be similar results. I could be wrong tho...

One person with an X had lag due to something with the SD Card. There still can be fixable variables for any slowness or lag.

Its like ppl complaining about not seeing a difference with Froyo, and are using the stock launcher and app drawer as proof. Scrolling contacts, settings, etc is better on Froyo.

The Samsung issue might be due to something not related to the UI too.

I totally agree...DInc > Eris...any day of the week...lol. And this is because the hardware specs actually gives the user experience a boost...larger/more pixels on screen, faster web browsing, faster UI, tv out, etc.

I can't argue with anyone's decison for choosing the X or the Dinc though...they both have their strong points and are both great phones! I had to think long and hard what features from both phones where important to me.

Yeah I like to put my r2d2 on navigation for the long trips to dagobah and its a nice place to store my lightsaber. :D

Seriously though my friend has the d2 and it's pretty much the same but no sense, no FM tuner and only a 5mp camera. It does have a keyboard but he said he doesn't use it anyway he uses swype. I suggest just waiting for the lte phones next year.
