Chrome To Phone: Anybody Using it?

I cannot find Chrome to phone anywhere in the extensions page.

Anyone can tell me where the heck is it?

EDIT: Never mind, I used the Firefox version of it.

It is instantaneously with Firefox (I am using Firefox 4 beta). I go to a website in my computer, click on the phone icon and my EVO receives it instantly. (no delays whatsoever)

Not only that, even if I am home it opens browser automatically and go the page right away.

This is really a good feature to have.
If you want the Chrome version there's a link to it on the 1st post. It's not in Google's extensions webpage anymore

Hi I'm one of the Dev's for the Firefox extension SendToPhone.
Version 1.0 was released today which adds a great new feature, handling market:// links as well as tel:// and sms:// links. If there's a market link in a page, just click it and it'll open up the Android market on your handset.

Some other great new features are coming soon, plus a new name, FoxToPhone.

That isn't developed by Google. But thanks! :)
It's not official Google, but neither is ZXing. However they were nice enough to let us host their code on their site and we have worked with Google so as to deliver the best user experience possible.

Hey, thanks to everyone for this tip...I have installed "Send to Phone" as a Firefox add-on and downloaded to the apk to my phone ("successfully" according to my phone); however, when I try to 'send to phone' it says I need to install the apk on the phone...and on the phone, I get a "parse" error.

Any ideas about what to do next?

This is a common error, I'm afraid you must be using Android 2.1 or lower on your handset. ChromeToPhone takes advantage of new API's in Android 2.2. a.k.a. Froyo. If you try to open the chrometophone apk on a handset that doesn't have Froyo you will get a parse error. Double check that you have Froyo installed, we had a user yesterday who was convinced they had upgraded, however that upgrade had failed any they were still eating Eclair (2.1)

i was thinking the same thing.... why can't it be extended to send to anyone in your contacts list? seems like a obvious next step for this. would seriously increase the usability

I think it will eventually be, if google doesnt someone will. All they are doing is making it a showcase for the device/cloud APIs. Its a first version. I would bet future versions enhance it.

installed the market version and am using fox to phone on the desktop side. definitely seeing some lag. sent a link about a minute ago and it still has no appeared on the phone...

maybe this is due to heavy usage after the official release to market?

still waiting on the link................

EDIT: ok, it came after maybe 2-3 minutes lag

I was annoying one of my coworkers earlier with it and sent several web pages, phone numbers, navigation links and text and they came right up. She's so annoyed that she's stuck with her Pre until April. Now I just need to install the new ATM app that prints money, that will send her right over the top.

I just installed the app and extension (firefox) for the first time. I just tried it and received the link almost instantaneously..

This is a sweet app, I'm sure it will come in very handy for me!

I don't see any benefit to this program? Can somebody explain why this is useful? I mean, just go to the site from your phone. Why would you need to send an address, or a phone number from your computer to your phone or vice versa? Just look it up on that to begin with.

What am I missing here.

It's much faster for me to search for the number of a restaurant, customer service or whatever number on the net, then just highlight the number and send to phone. Viola! Your phone will have the number, and all you need is hit "call".... A lot easier than to pull up the phone, manually dial the number then hit call. :)

I've personally used it several times already. Called my insurance company, 3 restaurants, my doctor and scheduled a MRI scan. I love it, and wondered why no one else have thought of it. :)
