SMS unproperly threading messages

I have a problem! I keep getting texts from multiple contacts under one thread. This is severly annoying. when go into the thread, its showing the contact as "onlinebanking@ealerts.bankofamerica.com" I checked and I have no contacts, drafts, or anything that would lead any contacts to be threaded along with this one. Any one else having this problem? or am I pretty much screwed?

What is your signal like when this is happening? Are you on roaming or are you on 1xRTT or 3G?

When I roam, all kinds of crazy stuff happens with text messages....it was this way with the Instinct also. Many times though it just puts them in any order it wants to in the thread under the right person. So this may or may not help your problem at all.

I have been having the same problem. I also have the BoA text, which I was receiving ok on my Instinct. Since I had my first Hero (yes, I exchanged it and I am still having the same problem) all messages go under Bank of America thread. I have tried everything to solve this problem, to no avail. I installed the Handcent SMS app and I noticed that in the messages app, even tought it stated that I was sending the text to "Joe Smo", in actuality, it was going to to onlinebanking@.... there is some major error in the software or programming of these phones.

I am using the workaround or preventative measure now- until hopefully there is a true fix. First i changed any settings on programs that texted me at myphonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com or any variation. For me, this included changing my bank of america alerts from text messages to gmails, Changing my yahoo messenger settings, and gmail calender alerts sent to text. Then I factory reset the phone. So far, I haven't had the threading problem again, but I will admit, its a huge sacrifice for me to prevent it. Hopefully there is something better then this soon...

It seems that it is definitely the BofA application. I logged onto BofA and stopped it from sending any text to my cellphone. I then did a hardware reset on the phone. It has now be 5 days and no more problems with bad threading. All my text messages are arriving in the correct thread.

Thanks.

Hope this information helps!

Did you get rid of the app all together or just stop the text alerts to the phone through your online banking? I'm new to android and love it other than this one problem I can't resolve. And how do you do the hardware reset? Sorry! I'm new to all this!

I was having the same issue.. when i first got my hero i didn't know why it was doing that and either did tech support so i swapped it for a new one and it was working fine right until the first BofA text alert. then all the text messages started getting grouped together and replies went back to the BofA address.

so what i did was a hard reset and just turn off the text alerts and changed it to email alerts... and i also kept the BofA app. i think it's just the text alert that messes up the messaging for some reason.

yes, this is the problem i am having, although it didnt arise til i started using Handcent. i started using handcent because -see below-.
I would like to keep using Handcent so i guess a hard reset is the way to go?

i have this problem too. it's like..the first 15 people i texted have their own thread. then my phone decided to start lumping everyone else under one person's name and i keep replying to the original and she gets confused.

figure out anything yet?

see, i get that also, but i can usually only get like 2 or maybe 3 ppl their own thread on a good day. from then, all incoming txts go under one of the previous names. every so often a random one will get its own thread but most of them after that go back to that same jumbled up thread.
so irritating... i'm sending the wrong shit to ppl all the time :(

i had this problem when i first got my hero...

it is a known issue with the hero and in fact, i started the thread over on the sprint community website forums. it is the bank of america text msgs. you need to stop those alerts and hard reset the phone. there is no other fix right now. trust me, i feel ya on this one...i was so frustrated when this was happening to me.

just fyi, its not the bank of america app, its the text messaging alert feature you can sign up for online. get rid of the texts and that will get rid of the problem. :)

I also had the same problem from day one that I got my Sprint HTC Hero, but then again, I already had BofA text alerts turned on at that time and got them on my previous cell phone. However, some of the mixed up threads were NOT from BofA, but from two or three other individuals (friends), so could the problem be directly related to BofA text messages or something else that's causing the issue?

Anyway, when you say 'get rid of the texts and... etc.' you're speaking of turning off the BofA web site text alerts, right? Just want to be clear that's what you meant. I'll give that a try and see if that works. Thanks!
