Help "Low on space" phone/application storage notification

I now have "Low on Space" and "Not enough storage space for SM (then it's cutoff)". This phone is seriously pissing me off. I have done 6 factory resets since getting it and after the last two I have added no apps to it. I have plenty of memory left but the message still pops up and GMAIL sent and Trash is empty, I have 29mb in use out of 7486mb in Gmail in use and i am about to walk into a Verizon store and beat someone senseless with this piece of crap phone.

When the hell is this getting fixed? The INC is the only Android+Sense phone doing this right?

Now my Bluetooth wont turn on or off. The widget and menu+settings doesn't work. AGGGGHHHHHHH

I get that you are frustrated... but is that language really necessary?

And why in the world would you go through SIX factory resets? If you were having that many problems... REPLACE THE DAMN PHONE! Clearly you have a bad one.

As for the "memory issue", it's not HTC OR Verizon... it's ANDROID. I have seen or heard about this happening on every single Android phone on the market, including HTC, Motorola, Samsung, etc.

Fine.....sorry about the language. 6 factory resets because no phones available until recently. That's why. Not going back to my LG Voyager since a) it's broken and b) it sucks. Going to Verizon store tomorrow since the phone is done for now.

Ehh... I guess I will forgive you ;) I'd be ticked off if I was going through all that, too. Not so ticked that I would write it out on a forum, but I would probably use similar language when explaining the problem to my fiance... and stronger language when yelling at Verizon to replace it.

So anyway, good luck at Verizon tomorrow. Give em hell! :D And don't let them give you any of that 30 days crap... it's clearly a defective phone and should be replaced under the 1 year factory warranty.

I just edited my drunken rant for children :D

When I first got my Incredible in April I had the low on space error pop up within a week of getting it. About an hour later it was gone and never worried about it. About a week ago it came back I wasn't that concerned until it locked my entire phone up. No emails text messages or apps would download I couldn't even restart it because ever process on the phone went through a force close. I finally did a hard reset hoping it would help but now a week later the same thing is happening but even worse. I have cleared the cache on all the apps. I don't even use the HTC Mail app or peep. I went to the Verizon store today and asked them they told me it was all a software issue and one Froyo was released it wouldn't happen because it would take stress of the phone and put it on the SD Card. Then they told me I have too many apps and thats the problem which I know is not the problem I have 543 mb's left of internal storage. So they placed an order for a new one for me does anyone know how to fix this or how to prevent it on my next incredible.

Thanks, Cody

I know that there are other threads on this but none of them really give any answers on the problems.

i had a similar problem on my Incredible today! it told me i was low on storage space but i certainly wasn't. i have maybe a gig worth of stuff on it.

so i went through and looked at the size of all my applications, all were lower than 5MB (most being only KBs) but for some reason, Pandora was 101MB. so i uninstalled it and the notification went away.

i am going to reinstall it and see if it comes back.

I posted about this a few days ago in a thread called "running out of space"... that's what I get for not using search lol. I called Verizon and everything they told me to do did not help, I was told to do a hard reset. Then I remembered that the problem first showed up when I was using Pandora, I had it on for about 20 minutes.
Like the poster above I deleted Pandora and the problem went away, glad I found the thread before resetting my phone.

I feel like the problem is in my contacts....but I don't know how to get rid of them.

I want my Facebook contacts not to sync and I changed it so they shouldn't. However, all of my Facebook friends are still showing up when I begin to enter a number.

And yes, I did go into my contacts and change the view so they don't show up there.

I didn't read every post in this thread, but I posted my input over at another forum: when I brought my phone into VZW with this notification, the tech support guy did a hard reset and when I told him I don't use any of the apps that had been suspected of causing it, he said that it's possible that the DI has a problem reading it's own memory.

It makes a lot of sense, because my phone was acting slow and behaving like there really WAS no memory, even though it showed high numbers, and I don't use Peep, HTC Mail, etc. Hard reset fixed the problem.... but caused others, so I have a new [er, refurb] phone on its way.

Anyway the point of this post was just that, if that IS the case, deleting caches and texts will only temporarily solve the problem.

Ok, another thing I wanted to post....and I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND this may not mean a thing...but my girlfriend's G1 just updated her Handcent to the latest version, and literally 10 minutes after doing this, low Space notification popped up on her unit. Her space, while much smaller than our original amount, is still nowhere near full...

Are the people who are having this notification pop up all using Handcent or one of the non-stock SMS/MMS apps?

I've been having this problem and I've done several things to get rid of it, and nothing seems to stick. I first tried to "defrag" method and the message went away, only to return the next day. I tried removing my Exchange account, and it went away, only to return a few hours later. I quit messing with it after that figuring that when I needed to download an app or an update, I'd just remove my exchange account, load the apps, then add my account back.

After a few days, though, that method stopped working and it wouldn't go away even after removing my exchange account.

I called VZW's tech support and they told me that FroYo was currently being pushed out and he thought that update fixed that problem and then he proceeded to tell me all the benefits that FroYo would give me and he was obviously reading from the MOTO Droid information so I just said "Thank you" and hung up..

I just tried to "clearing all the data and cache" method and it went away. We will see how long it stays gone now..

WTF, I'm getting a warning that I'm low on space, phone storage is getting low. However, according to the SD card & Phone Storage info I can pull up on my phone, I'm only using the following:
SD card
Total space: 3.69 GB
Available space: 2.67 GB
Internal Phone Storage
Total Space 6.60 GB
Available space: 6.06 GB
Phone memory
Total space: 748 MB
Available space: 636 MB

so all in all to me it looks like I should have plenty of space.
Am I missing something?
any assistance from the community would be helpful, Thanks
