So how many people?

I've thought about getting a GPS mount for the Evo since it's now my GPS since my TomTom died, but as many times as my TomTom took a dive from my windshield, I'm just scared the Evo will do the same.

Anyone using the weighted-base GPS holder instead of the windshield mount? That seems like it may be a better solution for me, but I'm skeptical.

I have a beanbag mount that is just as good. It's a little bulky compared to windshield, but stil....

i'm one of those people that have an upgraded sound system. the ipod connects to my alpine hu via cable. i have no desire to use my evo as a portable music device in my truck. i'd have to either get a fm transmitter or blue tooth adapter. i'll pass on both.

Connect using the preamps. The other methods are horrible regardless of source device.

Don't get me wrong if the HU controls it, don't change I'm just saying for others preamps are just as good in most cases...

I think I would like a car dock option for the music player to make it more drive use friendly... A touch screen would be easier to navigate than any HU I've ever owned... I never owned a touch screen HU obviously lol... Every HU I've ever owned have nothing but preamps cause they requie external amps :D

Yeah it probably just doesn't have them... It's not uncommon to find ones with no aux in... All HU's I've ever owned were ampless and usually meant for heavy duty amp outputs... So they usually provide a horde of preamp options including aux in...

The nice thing about the iPod's data port cable is the fact that it charges while it is playing music at the same time through its own line out, and if you have that option, it's the best way to go... For iPods... For all else, preamp is going to give you just as clean a signal so long as you run your lines away from your power cables or do it perpendicularly...

FM and BT is the worst ways to go, and high level inputs also... But the EVO can certainly hold its own when used with preamp... I "can" hear the difference with nice headphones, but the background noise in a vehicle is enough to throw the SQ thing out the window... Not only that, but digital music isn't "audiophile" to begin with even if 99.99% of mortal ears can't tell the difference lol...

The only reason I'm keeping my classic once again is because it's a SUPER good external HD and I got it as a present from the family... I don't use it, and my pockets really can't take the load... If I had a choice, I'd rather carry a 7" laptop or something because it can do so much more... That's just me tho...

P.S. I can fit a 7" laptop in my pockets LOL...

I wouldn't replace my iPods, but I certainly don't need to tow them around as much for music-first purposes any more. I don't expect my on-go music to sound as good on my Evo because it's a phone first and media device second.

What Evo has done is eliminated all possibility of me getting the upcoming iPod Touch or an iPad. I might get a refurbed or used Nook on the cheap to go with my Kindle though so I can have access to my books via Evo when and where I want.

I have a 32g touch and i cant seem to find a better solution for my podcasts. i have tried doubletwist but im not a fan for getting and syncing podcasts. also i like being able to leave my touch in the windshield mount when i get in and out of my truck. i tried it with the evo but having the power and audio jack on opposite sides was not working for me.
maybe if i get a HU that supports bluetooth, then a sandbag mount might work for gps functions and streaming music.
i do sync my movies to my evo. 4.3 and kickstand ftw.

If you guys have 4g just use gmote and stream off your computer. No worries for sd card space anymore. The ipod touches overlap so much between the two devices especially now they even came out with a phone hardware addon, these devices are so replacable with each other. Like I always say tho, if you are rich enough just get them all lol.

Trust me when I say that one of the best retail apps is coming to Android Nov.

C'mon man! Spill the beans lol! :)

Pandora FTW!!!..Who manually plays music....Thats soo old school

I do! I have over 40,000 songs in my iTunes library (its really closing in on 45,000) so I really do prefer my own mixes and smart playlists over Pandora.

Most of you guys using iPod ear buds are cheating yourself with sound quality to begin with... I highly doubt most of us here are audiophiles to the point where you have more expensive speaker systems than cars we drive... So honestly speaking the EVO is good enough as a music player... I use it a lot in speaker mode at work when I'm up and about in the warehouse... Works great... Louder than the other Android phones I've heard so far which also means louder ring tones...

I have an iPod Classic 160GB that's just being used as an external HD right now... I have about 80GB of music / videos on there and don't even touch it... The EVO outside of having horrific battery does so much I don't need another system... For when I really want to listen to good quality music I have my computer and that usually suits me fine...

As I'm typing this I'm using my pretty decent headphones on the EVO and really it's good enough for any application of music listening... And I use to be one to paper compare audio stuff... So I really don't see the attraction that is the iPod anymore, that's so 2001 - 2009...

P.S. With my headphones I can actually hear the difference in SQ and the classic is a LOT better, but really it isn't THAT great that it's worth carrying around LOL...

Semi audiophile here. I use active studio monitors as my desktop speakers Yamaha HS80M | Sweetwater.com Looking to replace them with some Dynaudio's soon.

And for my Headphones around the house, I use Sennheiser's HD 650's. Amazon.com: Sennheiser HD650 Open-Air Dynamic Audiophile Headphone: Electronics And you can DEFINITELY hear the difference in sound quality from bitrate to bitrate (128, 192, 256, 320, etc). I actually import most of my music into iTunes as Apple Lossless (ALAC). I also try to get most of my music as FLAC as well.

I usually use my 120gb iPod classic for playing music but sometimes I don't want to carry two devices so I keep about 8 gigs of music on my EVO. The sound quality isn't better than the iPod's but its not too bad even when using my HD 650's. So to be honest, my EVO won't replace my iPod unless they come out with 120gb sdcards that work with the EVO reliably.

I use audiotchnica ath900 at home and thats exactly the conclusion. The difference is there but unless you are looking for it and want to wear big giant head phones all day it isnt that obvious... Im more of a bass fan, cant stand true studio monitors lol, sound so flat.

I LOVE the flat sound but I I turn up the high end on the back of the monitors sometimes.
