Where are all you Droid X people from?

Replaced my Dinc and I couldn't be happier (Was already really happy with Dinc)!

I'll be honest but I'm terrified of rooting right now. Gonna wait til after 2.2 and see what benefits there are.

obviously, i dont wanna push you into doing something you're not comfortable with. but, with the 1 click root program, it's pretty idiot proof. there are a lot of cool apps for rooted phones.

This is driving me nuts. I seriously hope my phone ships tomorrow because this is getting very strange from my point of view.

I ordered on 8/8 and haven't received a shipping confirmation, let alone a tracking number or actual shipping ETA. The only thing I can get out of anyone is the usual, "no later than," ship-by date that's set around the 25th. People who only ordered their phone today or yesterday not only have their shipment processed, but they'll have it within the next day or two. A couple people ordered their phone one day, and had it the next. Some people who ordered half a week after I did already have their phone delivered and in-hand.

By no means am I suggesting that if I have to wait, so do others, but what's going on? I called earlier today and they say it still hasn't shipped out. I haven't received any e-mails. VZW's site still shows my phone as being grayed out when I click on, "Upgrade," and tells me that I have a pending phone activation. It's like my shipment has literally fallen off the back of the truck and no one has noticed.

I know I'm pissing and moaning and totally rambling, but this is driving me up the wall and I don't know what to do. I totally get that it's been back-ordered and there's a wait involved as a result. Yet, if Verizon just got a decently large shipment of these phones, why are customers that are only now ordering their X getting them sooner than those who have already ordered previously? It seems to me that their shipping department has some priority issues.

I have seen two or three peoples' posts saying that they ordered on the 7th or 8th and haven't received anything yet either. How did you few people place your order? Did you order over the phone, in-store, or online? Have you received any sort of notification yet? Any details might help shed some light on this.

i can understand how that would be frustrating. the reason your phone is grayed out, is that the account is locked from doing just about anything while there is a pending order. this is normal.
a lot of people may have ordered from an indirect location (ie. Best Buy, costco, other authorized verizon dealer). also, where you live determines which warehouse ships your phone. i am not in tune with the normal day-to-day retail operations, but i do know that most everyone who ordered on 8/8 are still waiting. i will be out of my office and in meetings most of the day tomorrow, but when it gets closer to wednesday, feel free to PM me and i'd be happy to look into it for you.

btw, it's normal not to be able to find out any information about your order until it actually gets a fedex tracking number.

I already know about the grayed out phone number and wasn't questioning it. I just figured I would explain the situation with more detail since I know that means that the order has still gone through and it hasn't been, "canceled," like other people have apparently had happen to them. It won't let me upgrade because I've already ordered an upgrade phone. I wanted others to understand that in case they didn't know about it. For me though, it really just adds to the mix of confusion. The order appears to still be active and current, but I haven't heard anything on it. It's like waiting at a train station, seeing and hearing the warning bells/gates go off/down as if a train is coming, but a train doesn't show up. Why are the gates going down and the warning bells going off if there isn't a train there?

I understand that I can't get any information on a shipment if it hasn't been processed through to FedEx or UPS, but that's the issue. I'm not really wanting the reps. to give me information on a shipment specifically. I just want them to tell me that it has been shipped in general and then give me a tracking number so that I can look up the details myself. Once the shipment has been processed, I'll be fine. I guess I'm just starting to get worried that something isn't right.

Thank you for the help and quick reply. I'm going to call customer service again tomorrow later in the evening, once they've had a chance to finish up any potential shipments they may decide to process. If the situation hasn't changed, I might just send that PM late that night. I would appreciate anything you would be able to tell me.

Oh wow! Did you order from Verizon? If so can you tell me if you ordered online, in store, or called. Also, if you ordered online can you tell me if they emailed a shipping notification the same day you bought it? I ordered online on the 10th and I haven't received any shipping information :(

so, i just want to kinda put out a blanket message to the people who havent received their phones yet... dont pay too much attention to when other people say they put in their order, and then received their phones. for one, there may be some people telling fish tales just to get people riled up. also, they may have ordered from a source such as best buy, amazon, etc., which they all have different ship dates. most people are receiving their x's up to a week early, because verizon was very liberal with the ship dates on the x, because they made mistakes trying to quote the incredible too close, and ended up creditiing a lot of people A LOT of money because phones didnt ship by the "ship by" date. if you havent received your phone, please dont worry. it is coming. if it doesnt ship by the ship by date they quoted you, then you should call customer service and find out why. if you still have some time til your date, just relax. you have 2 years to spend with your new phone. dont worry, there is a box of awesome on the way.
