How did you get your Evo?

I almost did not get one, watched the online sprint site until they finally had some in stock. I ordered it online. The next morning Sprint called me and asked me five of the stupidest questions to confirm my identity and said I wasn't who I said I was and would not sell me service. I went haywire on him (cuz this was the second time SPrint had done this to me, once a couple months before when I tried to buy a hero, I was an ATT customer), so supervisor gave her another 3 questions to ask me, I answered, she said congratulations, you're approved. SO I went from nothing to approved in a hot second? I think their credit department definitely leaves something to be desired, but in any event, I got my EVO the very next day. I was so siked and actually glad that they turned me down for the hero 90 days prior, because that left the door open for me to get the EVO!!!

I got mine about a month ago. Went to a Sprint store on Saturday, found a nice sales rep. Told him I was a new customer and wanted an Evo & a Blackberry. He put me on the waiting list -- 2 days later he calls in the morning to let me know they're in. I only came in in the afternoon, but he had kept it for me. Pretty painless :)

I got on 4 Sprint store waiting lists. I got a call at 10 on a Saturday from one store, drove straight over (less than 5 minutes away luckily), they got me hooked up and signed up fast .....I had plans to be on the boat!! I was rockin my new Evo by mid-June. I ultimately received calls from the other 3 stores, but they were all a week or 2 later.

Friend of mine just got 2 a few weeks ago by being at the Best Buy when the truck showed up with a new supply of Evos.

I just happened to be walking aound Best Buy and contemplating buying the new Xbox cause I had $175 in BB gift cards and coupons which would make the Xbox about half price. Before settling on buying the Xbox, I went over to the mobile section and just asked if they had any Evos in stock totally expecting them to say "No" since the sprint store and sprint.com were all out. They said yes to my surprise. They had it listed for $199.99 so I bought a new EVO for $55 after my giftcards and coupons (there was an activation fee). I've been loving it ever since.

I went to Best Buy because I thought I wanted to the white one. Of course they didn't have any in stock, so I asked if I could put my name on a list or pre-order, and I was told that they don't do that (despite the fact that I have read multiple accounts of folks doing just that). So I went over to the Sprint store and asked them, and of course they were out, too, until she (the salesperson) realized I was a new customer. That changed everything, and I walked out of there about 30 minutes later with two new EVOs.

I walked into a local Sprint store about a week after launch day. Another store had said they had a long wait list so I was wondering how long of one this one had. Asked the sales rep and she said to hold on and checked my account and their stock. Went in back and came out with a unit. Apparently they hold onto a few for walk ins since they want potential new customers to be able to get it. Walked out shortly after with my new phone.

A friend of mine owns their own business and has a corp account with Sprint. Of the 10 or so lines she has, about 5 had eligible upgrades, so being the awesome person she is, she got one, my wife got one, and I got one for less than the advertised price (corp discount, I guess). So I upgraded mine and my wife's phone and didn't have to extend our contracts (we're both not eligible until December). Works out as an even sweeter deal since there will probably something twice as bad ass as the Evo come next summer, and we'll still be able to upgrade into that.

Edit-
Received them the Monday after Launch. I was seriously considering dropping $450 for the phone outright until, the above worked out.

I got my white evo the day they they were in early at best buy. I was just randomly browsing around the store and decided to check out the demo evo. An associate walked up to me and said "are you looking to buy? We have the white evos in stock early". Without hesitation I said said "heck yeah I'll take one. But I'll be buying without a contract". He was hesitant after that and asked if I don't just want to wait till I was eligible for an upgrade. I said "Samsung Moment". Another associate overheared, and they both glanced at each other. "I'll go get you your evo", he said and headed to the back room.

I waited tweo weeks after launch. I had a Hero that kept acting up. It was the 2nd Hero that I had been through. I went to a friend of mine at the local Best Buy store and complained about the 2nd Hero. Asked what my options were. Since they originally gave me full credit for my Hero, my friend just swapped me out to a Brand New EVO. Didn't cost me a penny. Now I have had it for about a month and have had no real issues on it. I love my new device. I love Best Buy. They take very good care of their customers.

That is a great way to get one!

I was not paying attention to the shortage of the evo when I decided to bail from Verizon. I was only 7 months into my contract, when I caved in and decided I wanted the evo. I practically gave away my Droid and both Motorola docks, to a co-worker for $30. We went in and got the contract transfer over to her, and then it hits me.

WTF was I thinking giving it away when I've read there might be a shortage. I was gonna wait til I got the evo before handing it over but stupidity took over. I was like, oh man I might be waiting a few weeks to get the evo.

I called all the Sprint store in my area, and lucky me there was one store that had 2 in stock. I called all the Radio Shack and Best Buy and no one had it in stock. I went to the Sprint store and decided not to buy the phone. I didn't want to wait for the rebate.

The next day, I borrowed my brothers phone and I was called all the Radio Shack and Best Buy again. I called two Radio Shack, and they had nothing, on the third call, the manager said he had some coming in that afternoon, but there was a waiting list for it. I was about to hang up when he asked if I was new customer. I said yes, and I was getting happy!!!

He then paused for a few second and asked if I was willing to buy 2 accessory if he held the evo for me. I agreed, and a few hours later he calls and tells me it's in. I went there and some guy walks in asking if any evo was in stock, the manager said no. I bought the screen protector and HTC case and walked out with my new evo.

That was three weeks ago and I consider myself VERY lucky I didn't have to wait as long as some people. I only had to wait 2 days to get my evo.

I got up at 6AM on June 4, to get mine from the Sprint Store, which opened at 8AM. Walked out mad because they forced me to buy accessories with it which I could not return without returning the whole unit. Needless to say, I returned the unit+accessories two weeks later, went down a few blocks and bought another EVO at retail price from a different Sprint Store. :)
