Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

Why is it that I cannot seem to get my ADW Launcher alternate theme app to launch. Usually when I have multiple home theme apps on my Droid, when I hit the home button it will ask me which one I want (unless I have chosed one as default already)? Is this a Froyo thing, if not, how can I get it to acknowledge an alternate home screen app??

I use to use the volume button all the time to silence my phone (even vibrate off) -- like when it's in the cradle next to my bed, or sitting on my work desk. Is this really now GONE? Seriousely, I have to use the internal sound settings to silence the phone??

No, just read all the options under vibrate setting. you can set to Vib off. or Get beautiful widgets and use the silence widget.

I just installed the "SilentMode OnOff" widget from CurveFish. It's free, and tapping on it cycles from whatever volume you're currently at to vibrate to silent and back to "normal". I wish I had known about it months ago...

Has anyone else had problems with the Default Browser not working?
I updated my Droid this morning (very excited I might add finally seeing the 2.2 update release for the Droid) however to my dismay I can no longer browse the internet using the default browser. I tried Dolphin Browser and sames story... I installed NetDroid and it will browse the net without any hic-ups...
So whats the story? Why wouldn't the default browser work, but NetDroid browser will. I checked the system network connection in the phone info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and was able to do a ping test. The ping came back with a pass and I can see the DATA address, gateway, and dns is all connected. Everything says its connected with decent signal strength. I've had this problem all day, I'm on different cell towers from work to home.
I'm able to download apps, Pandora works perfectly and i get all my facebook info. I cant read news articles from the Weather/News widget because the Default browser isn't working.

Ive tried doing a *228 program AND roaming update as Verizon suggested and no change. I've restarted the phone, and pulled the battery out for several minutes as well.

Any ideas? Any help would be great

I have had nothing but trouble with 2.2.

Here are my bugs:

Extremely slow response time, phone seems to hang whenever making an action such as opening an app, or even navigating the settings menu. I have rebooted at least twice to no avail.

My notification sound was replaced with a 3 minute long mp3 that was in my music folder. Every time I got a calendar event, I had to listen to crazy J-core sirens going off. This was a very frightening experience to wake up to.

Adv Task Killer doesn't work. Can't kill the music apps and others.

Battery life seems super short for no reason.

Can't find the Flash Player in the marketplace. I see the Flash Showcase, but no player.

Music playlists are all empty.

Why. Why did I hit that update now button.

1. Use LauncherPro. It's a much better home replacement and much snappier than stock.

2. Notifications sometime have to be reset. It's no big deal.

3. Uninstall ATK. Android does a good job of reallocating memory on its own. No need for this.

4. Do a factory reset if you're having battery issues. This has fixed most, if not all, phones having battery issues.

5. Flash player is not in the Market yet. If you want it now, you can get it with a quick search on the forum.

I waited for the OTA update... I am running 2.2 now. A few issues I have noticed:

1.) Facebook will not synch with my new contacts, or any contacts not previously synched. It will still not synch with my own contact info (me), which is really annoying.

2.) HelixLauncher forcecloses when you hit the "Home" button below the screen... I uninstalled and now my home screens will not rotate to Lanscape (to be expected).

3.) The interface for the home dock is not the same and not and well integrated into the "Alarm Clock". It is now very messy.

Anyone know whats up with these?

In an attempt to evade the majority of the posted issues, I backed everything up on my phone, restored to the factory 2.0.1 ROM via RSDLite, upgraded to the 2.1 ROM, and then to the 2.2 ROM. For the most part, it's been a problem free process.

I have only one standing issue. Launcher kind of lags out while trying to reload my home screens after exiting an app. No particular pattern to it; it just sort of happens whenever it feels like it. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?

P.S. I've tried a home alternative and found that I have the same issue with the alternative. It's almost like the phone is being momentarily bogged down.

So I'm using LauncherPro now, and I'm no longer noticing any lag. And not to mention that this home replacement is pretty bitchin' itself.

As my first post, I first want to say thanks to the admins and top posters on this forum - it's been an excellent resource for us Android users.

Now onto my question... I've done a quick search, but I can't seem to find anyone else with a similar problem (it's certainly possible I just missed it, of course).

I am noticing the speed improvements since upgrading to Froyo, primarily in the browser. But as a heavy user of the hardware keyboard, I noticed that after sending a text message, and then sliding the keyboard back in, the phone seems to freeze up for a little bit when it switches back to portrait mode from landscape mode. Now I say a "little bit", but relatively speaking it's a lot longer compared to 2.1.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I manually updated my Droid to 2.2 and everything seems to work except some of the videos in my gallery do not work now.
They all worked just fine on 2.1 now on 2.2 some of them play fine, on some the thumbnail is just a black box and they dont play. The rest has a thumbnail pic but it looks like a VCR tape being fast forwarded and it plays like that.
Like I said all the videos played just fine previously on 2.1. Did the change something in the file formats or something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Running 2.2 on Motorola Droid. Using LauncherPro Plus. I've notice my battery life isn't lasting as well since the upgrade. Additionally, it doesn't seem that Advanced TaskKiller is working after the upgrade. Apps are restarting like crazy after killed (much more than I had noticed so far).

I've read that a hard reset can fix the battery issue but I was wondering if there is anyway to "ghost" my setup now and reapply it after the hard reset? I just spent a ton of time modding the droid to look the way I want and I'm very happy with everything the way it is so it would be quite convenient to be able to image it and reapply after the hard reset. I doubt this is possible and I'll end up having to write all my apps and such down so I can load them and set it all up like I want again after the hard reset. Any ideas?

EDIT: I read that you don't need ATK anymore as 2.2 manages tasks more efficiently and has its own task killer. I have uninstalled this and will monitor my Droid to see if I am still having Battery issues and slowness.

Yes, I am having this problem since updating. I seem to have the problem almost every time I quit an app and return to the home screen. It also seems to be worse when the screen is in landscape mode. Anyone have any ideas?

I can atleast say that it is not for me. i got the OTA update yesterday and thankfully I am not experiencing any issues that have been mentioned. It was slow for about the first 5 minutes, but them got up to speed.

Same here. Got the OTA two days ago and this thing has been flawless.
I'm not seeing ANY of the "issues" mentioned here and elsewhere. Nothing but improvements and a huge speed and performance increase.

Motorola Droid- Not rooted

I had no problems with this phone until this update. I have had it a few weeks, actually bought it off a friend of mine, he only had it for about a month before I bought it.
Got the update alert sometime late Sunday night. Hit install and let it do its thing. I checked it out and it was fine. Monday morning is when I started having all the problems.

Have to do a battery pull a lot. Phone locks up when I make calls/receive calls. I tried to end a call today and when I hit end it didn't work was locked up. Had to do a battery pull.

Phone now shuts off at random times. Also when sliding open the phone the screen will stay black but the keys at the bottom will be lit up. Have to do a battery pull.

Mostly it locks up and I will let it sit for a while but nothing ever happens. It all ends with a battery pull.

Sometimes will lock up while I am writing a text then starts working fine again. This is stressing me out. :( I am getting very frustrated. Anyone have any ideas of how I might be able to resolve some of this?

I have been running mp4 video on my droid since day 1 back in November and since the 2.2 upgrade, I can no longer play the video's that played fine on 2.1. I get audio, but the video hangs on one frame and doesn't play at all. I can skip fwd and the frame changes, but will not 'play' the video.

My video is encoded (using BeyondTV's H.264 codec) at either 640x480(SD) or 848x480(HD) @1200kbps and aac 48khz 160kbps. All videos played quite nicely on both the internal video player and Act 1 video player before the 2.2 upgrade.

I downoaded Rockplayer to see how it would handle the videos, and the audio is fine, but the video runs at about half speed, so it is not acceptable either.

I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem. Help?

Many Thanks!

Try a "factory reset". Search the forum (we should have a sticky, this question comes up dozens of times a day)...

So I know I'm new and am not tech savoy but I have enjoyed the intellect of a few in here. I have experienced a lot of the same problems with my d1 since the update and after 2 hours in the store and leaving to check out the I phone got a call back from tech support saying they have a software fix available in the stores. So if the tech I spoke to is correct any of us with froyo issues can go to the store and they will plug in the phones and add the patches.. I was also told flash will be available tomorrow. Dunno but I hope this can help. Oh yeah anyone know how to back up the apps on my d1 so I don't lose them if I do a replacement? Thanx

Thanks. I did the factory reset and no sooner then it finished my phone locked up. I waited 10 minutes still locked up....had to do a battery pull. I was almost tempted to throw the phone out of the car while going down the highway and go back to my enV3.

I've noticed that if my Droid is plugged into a power source, if I do a bluetooth voice dial, it immediately turns off the bluetooth headset output and switches back to the phone (the green line under 'Bluetooth' goes away on the call screen). If you hit the bluetooth button on the screen, it'll turn back on. When operating strictly on battery power, it behaves perfectly fine. I'm not using a car dock, so I'm wondering if this is solely related to people using 3rd party chargers. Hopefully this is resolved in FRG22.
