If true, congrats. With all due respect, I doubt it though.

I decided to call CS today, just out of curiosity. I got nice courtious CS as usual for when I call Verizon (in store, forget about it!). I played dumb, not a big stretch for me lol. Anyway I told her I was worried I missed my shipment because the web site said it would ship by the 18th. I do believe it said the 18th but I could be mistaken. She said you ordered on the 8th, your due the 25th. She said they are selling so many they are sending bigger than normal shipments to stores. She also said I may have seen it say ship date of the 18th if the site hadn't been updated yet.

What I don't understand with the mad dash for the incredible, I4 and other previously super hyped products why they didn't gear up and make sure they had plenty to go around. I'm starting to think they are intentionally keeping supply lower than demand to feed the hype.

So, whose waited the longest to receive their DX?

I too, believe that Verizon is using the demand to keep the price of their product up. They had to know in the infancy of this product that it was going to be an iphone killer and that there would be huge demand for it. It's awful but that's capitalism for you; supply and demand.

Just ordered a Droid X today (buh-bye, Apple!), and they told me it should ship by the 31st. So I have a week or two before I have it in my tiny little hands (that big screen is going to take getting used to, hope it isn't too big!) on it. I'll keep yous guys updated on when I do get it. The salesman said it could ship earlier, but I'll take that as a bonus if it happens, but I won't count on it.

This is what I'm talking about. I'm pissed at Verizon because they don't care enough to tell us what the **** is going on. All I want is a little confirmation here and there as to what's happening and what I can expect, but no, I'm left in the dark wondering if I will ever receive the device at all. We've all been charged a few hundred dollars for a device that we can't even use yet. The least they can do is clue us in damn it.

It's that time of the day again. Will be calling CS here in a moment.

I ordered my DX online on August 10th with an expected ship date of August 25th (I'm in NY).

To my surprise my DX arrived today (thank god my landlord was around to sign for it). I had not received tracking details or anything from Verizon even though I was told that I'd get it since I ordered online.

For those of you still waiting, don't expect much and have some patience and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ah you gave me hope! I also ordered online on the 10th, and I have not yet received the shipping email. I really hope mine comes this week and not next week (school begins)! I shall try to have as much patience as possible but it's really hard when such an amazing phone is going to be delivered to me :(

Well, it is true, whether you want to believe or not. I ordered on-line.

So I've been keeping up with this thread and it's been driving me nuts! Here is my order/shipment status: Online order for two Droid X's on Sunday 8/8. I was guaranteed to receive phones by 8/25. I have been calling for the updated status every day since Monday and I check my email constantly! UGH!!! I will keep ya'll posted on any other details that come my way. (By the way...I live in Denver) :(

I had mine delivered yesterday while I was at work, since no one was home they couldn't leave it. I got home at 4:30 and called UPS to arrange pickup. They told me the driver would be out late and I could pick up my package at 7:30. I was sitting at home around 5:00 and I hear what sounds like a delivery truck outside. Doorbell rings and it is the UPS guy. He tells me "I thought I'd save you the drive to pick it up!". It would have been a 35-40 minute drive there and then the same home and then the time standing in the line. He saved me at least an hour and a half if not more. I'm guessing they told him I was coming as I told UPS on the phone that "There is a ZERO percent chance that I won't be there to pick this up!"

Not sure if this is UPS' policy to deliver stuff if they can late in the day or if the driver went out of his way to get it to me on the way home because he knew it was from Verizon and had to be a phone. Either way, I was a happy camper last night!

I did order on the 6th around 2:30pm in BJ's and I did get a shipping confirmation email on Monday around 11am. Best of luck to everyone still waiting. Just rest assured, it is worth the wait!

The more I think about it, verizon really dropped the ball on the dx. Think about how inpatient we are being, I would imagine Evo 4g and I4 would be buyers would have jumped to the dx instead if waiting if there was no wait.

Oh well, day 10 is almost over. Good luck everyone still waiting.

verizon didnt drop anything. motorola hasnt delivered on their commitments. the dx wasnt even supposed to go into backorder. motorola is the one that came up short. verizon is doing the best with what they have. that is why they cant determine an exact ship date. they are at the mercy of motorola.

The bottom line is Verizon/Motorola/whoever does whatever the hell it wants whenever the hell it wants. And that sucks.

Your doubt is completely justified but I don't think this is impossible. Someone from Maryland ordered on the 12th and got a shipping notification on the 18th.

I definitely think Verizon is doing something dishonest.

Wow, I think some people definitely need to chill a bit. If you don't get your phone by the estimated date you were provided when you ordered then there would be some reason to be upset. Otherwise, what is the real complaint, that someone else got their phone quicker than expected?

Yes, I hope to receive my Droid X earlier than initially estimated and yes, I am jealous of those who ordered after me getting their phones first. But as long as I receive my Droid X by the estimated date identified when I ordered then Verizon has done everything they agreed to do and I have no real basis to complain.

Think of it this way, if you received your Droid X before everyone who ordered before you would you still characterize Verizon as sucking, not caring, doing what they want, being dishonest, etc.? Would you volunteer to delay your phone being delivered so that you didn't get yours before anyone else that ordered the same day or earlier also received theirs?

Don't quote me again unless you actually read my post and at least attempt to understand what it is that I'm saying.

This is truly the last time that I bother commenting on this subject matter since my words go through peoples' ears and right out the other. Everyone is assuming that I'm complaining about something as simple as a long wait, when I'm not. You can now leave me out of this discussion, because I no longer want to be part of it if I'm only going to be misunderstood.

so what's the deal with some people getting it via ups??? i thought fed ex delivered these?
I would like to know about this as well. I've heard a few reports here and there about people having their property delivered via UPS instead of FedEx. I don't think this is a bad thing at all if it's true. I just find it odd and surprising.

This makes sense to me. If it's true to the fullest extent, then I no longer have any gripes with Verizon.

I will chill when I get my phone, thanks :)

If I got my phone before everyone else, I would be happy, yes. I mean, I'm getting what I want and I'm getting it quickly. But at the same time, I would recognize that Verizon's shipping method, as well as their ship-by date, is screwed up.

When I thought I would have to wait three weeks for my phone, I was disappointed, sure, but I was under the impression that that was how it was for everyone. That if you buy it later, you're going to get it later.

But is that true? No. I get it, okay? I get that people lie and that, yes, there do exist pathetic individuals who would honestly take time out of their day to post fake information. However, if you look here and you look elsewhere, it's obvious that there really are people who order later and get their phones sooner.

It frustrates me that Verizon is obviously not shipping based on first-come-first-serve, and that they keep posting new ship-by dates that mean nothing. Oh, and let's not forget their inane Customer Service. Some reps are smart, some stupid, some nice, and some mean. But they're all useless.

Motorola hasn't fulfilled their shipments, true. But how is it that people are ordering the 10th getting theirs today, when people have been waiting since the 8th and haven't gotten anything?

If you are going to make the rules of first come first serve, then by all means practice what you preach.

I would have 0 complaints if I got my phone on the 25th. What I have complaints about is how people are getting theirs sooner, for no reason. I paid the same price for the phone as every other customer, yet they get theirs first?

Also worth complaining are the people who have been waiting even longer then I, from the fourth to the fifth, still getting nothing and people are walking in the store at 5pm, getting their phone within 48 hours.

I can appreciate your corporate allegiance but I'm not bashing Verizon. I'm just kind of stirring the pot a little. I was looking around and only found Verizon saying they underestimated demand, despite over stocking stores and warehouses. I have yet to read anything about Motorola being unable to keep up. That's why I blamed Verizon in my hypotheticals.

I love Verizon, well mostly :p I have been a customer since they bought out my pager carrier, air touch.

Try working in customer service and you'd quickly understand. They're not useless, they're doing as they're told. It makes more sense to tell people they will get your phone BY X DATE as opposed to oh yeah you'll get it tomorrow.

Guess what happens if I told people they were getting their phone tomorrow and for whatever reason it doesn't ship or is delayed? Every single customer that I gave that info to is going to call in and raise hell, and would have every right to. Instead I told them that due to demand, the phone will be shipped by the end of the month at the latest. Less calls means call centers can focus on more important calls as opposed to ZOMG I CALLED EVERY DAY THIS WEEK, HAS MY PHONE SHIPPED YET?

Don't get me wrong, but I'm just as frustrated as everyone else. I ordered the 7th and friends that live down the road ordered later than I and already received theirs. No one here knows how their shipping system works and everything in this forum is speculation.

The way I see it, myself and everyone else has two choices: stick it out and wait or get another phone. Until the 25th passes I will continue to wait, and if I still don't have tracking info by then I will be raising holy hell because my card has already been charged and is accruing interest each day with nothing to show for it.

I said they're useless because they're useless. I'm not saying that they themselves as people are useless, but that calling Verizon for information about your Droid X shipment is useless because the reps don't know/won't admit anything (thereby making them useless).

When they can honestly answer why the phones arn't being shipping as first come, first served then I will rescind the statement that they are useless.

If I wanted to hear that my phone would send the 25th I would just log-in to my Verizon account and see the expected delivery date sitting stagnant in my account.

Few people here would like to call, sit on hold, and be told the same thing that can be found instantly on the computer. Is that not customer service?
