Root Custom recovery on x!!!!!!!

My guess is they were discussing it with him not thinking that he would try and steal their thunder. Like I said they asked him if he would like to work with them on making the recovery and he declined. They've had this working for over a week now but they were working on the UI (which obvously Koush has had down pat for some time now). They wanted to package it up really nice for us and then Koush comes a long and shits on their parade. IMHO he should have waited until after they released their version...

But in their video they thanks Koush for their UI and the work he did on it. Somethings not adding up. Also rainbaba (sp) says to think him for the busybox he installed. Was he being sarcastic ? Otherwise there doesn't seem to be any heat between them...at least not in public.

I think it was sarcasm, that he was trying to say they built that awesome busybox and the extras and that koush stole it and put it in his

Definately sarcasm. Trust me Bird and Rain have spent weeks working on this with VERY little sleep. The UI in the video is definately Clockwork Mod which I think they put on there just to prove it could be done. As I understood it Bird and Rain were coming up with their own custom recovery and custom UI. Koush took pretty much all their hard work and released his version before them. I would presume he did this to get the credit for this hack...

We all know I think Koush should be giving credit for the method of getting this recovery onto the X. I think not doing so is bad form. I've lost respect for Koush for not maning up and giving credit where credit it due. Koush didn't want to work with Bird and Rain and now I guess we all know why...

Is everything in your reality depressing? unless you have double super secret inside info all you are saying is just made up.

every source we have, including the devs you are saying are apoplectic about this, says that this was a quasi collaborative effort with everyone being on good terms.

your entire theory centers around (i'm assuming) the 2 alldroid tweets which were taken back via an apology/recanting by the same guy an hour later.

you haven't given any reason to make any of us think that Koush stole anything. So unless you can pony up actual evidence apart from how you feel, stop making stuff up please.

Just because you imagine/desire a nasty hacker feud does not make it exist.

This from AllDroid (Bird and Rain are both part of their staff) Is the most recent example of sarcasm and animosity from them towards Koush. (there are also comments posted by them on the engadget article as well!). Once again this is only the most recent evidence that there is a rift between these folks...

Old news. Birdman and Rainabba (http://alldroid.org) have had a working recovery environment (albeit, no pretty UI) for days. Hey @Koush, that's a nice build of busybox you got in there. Where'd you get it? That person was really thinking when they included all those useful utilities that most people don't.

Not to mention (Unless I'm blind) I don't see anywhere where Koush gave credit to anyone who was part of this "quasi collaborative effort" you speak of. He makes it look like he came up with this all by himself!

or the only evidence...also busybox? Thats what he stole? Busybox is in everything, literally. It comes with every ROM I've ever installed, Titanium Backup, Clockworkmod (since forever) how can you swipe buxybox it's not theirs...

Even if they hate each other, (which I still don't see) and bitter that koush beat them to a Dx recovery. Who cares? There is still zero evidence that Koush has stolen anything. Frankly, Koush is the one with all the recovery making credentials. Not that this is an original idea to begin with the Milestone has had a similar recovery program for months.

At the most this is two guys who are angry at someone who beat them to market with a piece of software.

Unless, of course, you can present something that isn't a snide, sarcastic, empty alldroid tweet (or it's exact copy on engaget). There is ZERO reason to believe that Koush stole B-man and Rain's work.

your assumption that they worked day and night on a recovery and Koush just stole it (from where?) slapped a UI on it and released it, is (at this point) a complete fantasy.

Dude I'm not gonna run around the net gathering all the information for you. If you want it go find it. Even if I did it most likely wouldn't change your mind. It seems you're alredy on your knees in front of Koush so nothing anyone says will change your mind. You believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I want to believe.

My stance is that I will not donate to Koush, use his recovery, or purchase his ROM manager. He needs to be a man and give credit where credit is due! Instead of bragging about how he made the front page or Engadget maybe he could say "Hey Birdman and Rain played a large role in getting this out to all of you." This method is similar but not the same as what is on the Milestone. Bird hijacked the boot process MUCH sooner than anyone working on the milestone was ever able to do.

Ragardless of your stance I don't see how you can defend him for not giving some credit to Bird and Rain. IT'S THE PROPER THING TO DO!!!!

I find that if you are not sure about giving credit, then give it

yes because I'm the one holding unfounded assumptions...O and I did look "around the net" and I have seen nothing reliable to justifying a claim of theft by one Android's most respected developers. you however seem to think there is I'm wondering what it is.

Right, assuming that Koush is using any of their work, which again you haven't presented anything to suggest that he has, other then they use similar processes, (variations of which had already been used in the past)...

I'm done with this. believe that ever you want man. Just stop passing off your wild unsupported opinions as some sort of moral imperative we should all be following, no one cares.

You must not look too hard.
We have Rain and Alldroid both asking Koush where it got the LOADED version of busybox he included in his recovery. It's obviously a modified version of it. Now I'm reading between the lines here but I think it obvious that Alldroid and Rain and probably Bird know where he got that version. (them)

While it may be Open source if they are the ones that modified it then Koush should give credit or explain why they had nothing to do with it. However he seems strangely quite and very happy to be on engadget.
