Pain in the............wrist!

I have had the HTC Desire for just over 3 months now and think it ranks up alongside the Sky Plus box as the best bit of technology that I own.

However I have got one major problem which is that since getting it I have developed a really painful wrist (no schoolboy humour please). I hold the phone in my right hand and tend to use my right thumb for scrolling, selecting on the screen and pushing the buttons at the bottom. I have developed a persistent stabbing pain over the nobly bit on the right side of my wrist which gets worse after I have been using the phone for a while. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me getting old?

Holding a lightweight phone and using simple movements shouldn't be giving you wrist trouble. Might be a good idea to have a word with your GP.

Though it could just be RSI of some variation. Exercise your wrist more through furious masturbation some means and see if you get any better. Simple things like rolling your wrist would do the trick for most things. Or get your hands on a Powerball and really bulk up those wrist muscles!

i used to get wrist problems.

i strongly recommend these:

Amazon.co.uk: Powerball: Neon Pro, 250Hz Pro, Grip Trainer, Gyroscope

If you can afford the metal one (silver, not gold) go for that. If not, the cheaper plastic one will do. You could get one without the counter, but I would probably get it with.

Also look at wrist related physio exercises (could probably just find a few on the net); wrist problems tend to arise through constant low level usage of the wrist throughout most of your day, typing, writing, using a phone, eating, anything really that uses the hands, not from a slight increased usage just because you have a new phone.

Of course, I'm no doc, but I have never really had good experiences with doctors and muscle pain or tendonitus, so I did a lot of research myself after the doc's did bugger all to really help me.

which phone did you have before the desire?

i moved from a nokia 5800 to the desire and found the "extra width" also took some getting used to because my hand was used to the slimmer nokia design.

do you use a mouse at work? Since starting my last contract I had lots of pain at the base of my thumb.

I determined it was down to the useless design of the mouse after swapping sides for a week (enhances the brain too apparantly!).

Relieved it somewhat, but in the end I bought an OrthoMouse. Costs a lot of money (over
