Worked great for me. So far Froyo is noticeably faster. Very nice. I hope it stays that way

I've successfully upgraded to Froyo using the instructions on the sticky link. Can I now delete the update.zip file from my SD Card? I assume so, but just want to make sure.

I wish people would read before posting. I think 2 o the 5 pages i just read were the same 3 questions asked OVER AND OVER

MY question is..lol...Do i need service for this?? Im currently out in the middle of PA on a relaxing get away weekend, and only have wifi, no cell service...Am i going to need service for anything before updating to 2.2? is a *228 necessary , Id hate to screw something up and not have a wifi phone for the weekend. (already pissed i just found out that skype is useless on the droid since you cant use it via wifi) Id hate to wind up throwing my phone in teh lake if it screws up in the middle of no where

I didn't have to do the *228 so you will probably be fine.

You can delete it, but I made a folder on my SD called backup and keep copies of everything I could possibly need again. Just a good idea to keep backups just incase.

Thanks...did you guys need to back things up? or did everthing just transfer over? Since i dont have service...mybackup app wont authenticate over wifi, so i cant back anything up right now.....If i update will everything be there? Or is it going to wipe clean like the blackberrys did?

eventually will froyo get pushed to everyone? I am on a network that doesnt support my phone so is doing this the only way i can get froyo on the phone or can i wait and be patient and take the safe way

has anyone figured out how to disable the sliding screen lock on 2.2 on the dx? on 2.1 it was in the security settings...not there anymore....

I ran the update file it said it failed with status code 7 I rebooted and it shows 2.2 I am not sure if it is all ok or now anyone else have this issue

I just saw this, sorry it's late but better late than never:

Search the market for 'Nimbuzz' or 'fring' , they'll both connect to Skype over Wi-Fi. Nimbuzz lets you make Skype to Skype calls and fring lets you make calls to non skype numbers via Skype.
