Carmen's Take on the Xperia X10

So i finally got it

Yay!!!

Okay i have literally only had it for thirty minutes and so far i love it

I have used

1)Droid(1st gen)
2)Droid Eris
3)Droid Incredible
4)Droid X
5)Sprint Evo
6)Sprint Hero

and gotta say I truly believe this is the sexiest android phone i have had yet and first impression wise, i love it....

I have taken some pictures and will be taking more when I go out and hit the night clubs and city tonight....

This is my initial 30 mins i love it(Some may say i may grow to hate it) but i am definitely going to be charging it up and heading out shortly

Timescape is beautiful and I am in love with the blue

I am still kind of interested in the Captivate(just because of 2.1 and the screen) but as of now i think i am going to keep my Xperia

And Picsay Pro is available on my phone, so i am excited for that

Couple of things
1)Since Coming from 2.1 on a Droid X to a 1.6 Xperia, are there any good mail applications that can simulate A)push email B)Multiple Gmail accounts

2)What are some good Apps for an american girl like myself you guys recommend

3)If i use Adw launcher or launcher pro is there a way to still simulate the blue?

Well, congrats! If you don't like the phone you can always switch to the Captivate.

The X10 includes a push email app for Exchange. Gmail is also push. Are you talking about something different?

I would definitely get Pandora, Photoshop, Bump, Movies, LED Light (Widget), Wikidroid and XDA. If you are a geek, Engadget is good too.

If you plan on rooting there are a few other need to have apps.

The replacement launchers support themes so I'm pretty sure you could find something blue that you like. I find it kind of funny how you keep mentioning the blue. I love blue myself and that is one of the coolest things I liked on the Captivate, everything was themed with blue accents.

haha yes i love the Blue background on the phone
and i didn't remember seeing it on the captivate(idk wasn't playing with long enough i guess)

and i guess i am asking for replacement mail apps that can support multiple gmail accounts
instead of the one account that 1.6 does

I don't use Gmail or Google sync services at all. I only use my Google account to access the Market. It is my understanding though that you can have multiple email accounts with Google but only one syncing account on 1.6.

Actually the AT&T version only has the standard Android keyboard. The other X10s have a Sony keyboard as well and I think that's the one people are complaining about.

I have rooted and debranded my X10 already and the generic ROM includes the Sony keyboard. I actually don't mind it and I think it's better than the standard Android one.

Maildroid has options for multiple accounts but I only tried with one gmail acct. Worth a try.

Hey Carmen, glad you didn't listen to all the detractors. I love my X10 with a passion.

On your blue theme have a look at this ADW Launcher by AnderWeb - modified to match the Xperia UI - xda-developers Its basically ADW skinned to be blue like the Xperia UI.

And as a girl with an eye for style, have a look at this HTC keyboard by Gimpsta, you can basically mod it to whatever you want... fonts/background colour/key colour etc.

yes i love it although i havent started using it yet(I'm still using the Droid X)

Depends what you want to do with it but I was going to say the same as above.

You can get a skin for adw that is the same theme as the X10 and even keeps the translucent google search bar, which was the nicest touch for me on the se uxp.

Again mail droid is great it works with loads of email accounts and will do push email syncs when you want it to and gives a notification noise when an email turns up and they can be accessed from the notification bar.

Some one mentioned above about an led flashlight app, I use Xperia flashlight app and it has a widget for the desktop that's an on off switch for the led.

I could go on, oh one last tip you might not know. In adw you can uninstall apps by dragging them to the bin at the bottom of the screen and then hold it there for 2 seconds and you then have the option to drop it to uninstall it.

sexy phone for a sexy girl

, theres nothing better than that lol. I always loved sony phones one of my all time favs was the sony w810i for at&t one of the easiest texting phones ever. I could text paragraphs without even looking. Just hopefully they release 2.2 in the near future or 2.1 at least. How would you rate the camera on this phone compared to something like the evo?

Xperia Vs Evo Cam...Even with the Webcam, Xperia beats it hands down in my opinions

it.s not the exta .10 of a megapixel that makes it that way it justs the over all quality of the pictures as well as the process of the picture taking

I miss MT in the gallery but the zoom is cool too

We went clubbing last night and us girls and the guys used my phone and the pictures were perfect

I am going to work on customizing my Xperia now

I might have to get one of those phones if u can get 2.2, it makes sense Sony makes great cameras. I am not too impressed with the Evo cam my bro has the iPhone 4 and its rated at 5mp but I think the cam is better. Not saying its bad just not too impressive. Let's see some sample shots Carmendiva. I bet u and the phone make a heck of a combo.

Go to settings-applications then tick the top option box to allow non market apps to be installed.

Edit: then whilst in the applications section click on -development- and enable debugging.

you posted a review after 30 minutes of use?
i guess there are no rules on things like that..but that is like driving a new car for a half hr and telling the world its the most reliable car you ever owned...LOL
try using it for a week then post again.
i loved mine for the first three or four days...it wasnt until after that it began showing strange things like locking me in camera mode unable to get out...texts that would not keep up with typing...constant shut downs..where i am in my email or gps or ..well..even a phone call...and it powers off and reboots...it has left me stranded while using google maps.

heck yesterday someone called me and it rang once...they told me later that when they called it only rang once and went to voicemail?
then oddest thing...a minute later i hear music...i think is that me or the store i am in?
it starts...on its own....playing some song in my library jefferson airplane....white rabbit...
..then again the song matches the x10....it is some eery weird song about taking drugs and going down the rabbit hole with alice in wonderland...while my phone likes to do its own thing and open or close apps when it feels like it.

heck again...i tried to back up yesterday to do yet another firmware reinstall to try and keep this thing working ok...and it...didnt want that to happen...so it crashed me half way thru backing up..so that i could not run repair mode.

mine has a mind of its own...while i appreciate any insight on user opinions good and bad...using a phone for half n hr will not allow it to show its good points or bad points...thoroughly enough.

Yeah I can't click non market apps option because At & t strips american users of that feature ;(

Make sure you have debugging as the other poster stated. You can't check the allow non-market since that option isn't there. If you decide to keep the phone you can debrand it and get the non-market option working.

I have also had issues with ADB that required a reboot to get them working. Most likely a USB issue.

I used to have an unlocked htc hero before this phone,wanted a better camera sp i signed up on contract for it without really doing a proper background check on it,as i was amazed by the screen in the o2 store and the pics in daylight. i regreat it now, camera is prob the best on android device you can get in ireland ( on 02 anyway) but no flash was a bit of a balls as i found out on its first night out in the pub. i miss my n95 8gb and its camera,i wish nokia would stop being ****s and adopt android to their handsets!!

hehe Carmen ill have to check it out on facebook lol. So it seems like the Xperia is a pretty cool phone but i have read a lot of problems going on with it. I might just wait till this phone comes out and its going to have 3.0 gingerbread :eek:

Imagine a psp/android 3.0/camera all in one.

I havent had it as long as some of the others have
but i mean it is a good device

I would recommend it...I already convinced my dad to get it
and he likes his evo and iphone 4

Let us know how you like it in a few weeks. Sometime the OMG i just got a new phone factor goes away after a few weeks. I was going nuts when I got my Evo and couldnt wait to show it at every chance i got but after a month i kinda got used to it lol.
