Root Battery (Life and Charging) SUCKS On ANY 2.2 ROM

OK, so I rooted ages ago and as soon as the 2.2 ROMs started showing up, I started playing with them. One thing I've found across the board is that charge times are SO long and battery life is SO terrible.

I'm running the 2.15 radio and have tried 2 or 3 Hydras, stock, and Kingx kernels. I've run several versions of SkyRaider, 2 adrynalyne ROMs and CM6 RC3. Nothing seems to fix it.

Today, running SkyRaider 2.5.2 Vanilla and Kingx V2, I took it off the charger (phone powered off and LED showing green) at 7:15 and powered it up. By noon with light-to-moderate use, it was at 32%. I put it on the charger for 1 hr, 15 mins and didn't even touch the phone and it only made it to 50%. When I took it off, it dropped to 34% in 25 mins with me making ONE phone call for about 5 mins and otherwise, leaving it in my pocket. I'm already using SetCPU set at on demand, 998mHz max, dropping to 245 when the screen is off.

There's nothing keeping the phone awake... My partial wake usage is almost non-existent. I've got a weather app updating every 30 mins and Facebook updating every hour and that's all I have that syncs. I've reset my battery stats and that didn't seem to change anything. If anything, the battery dies more quickly now.

I'm at the end of my rope here. I don't want to have to go back to stock 2.1, but I'm almost at the point where I'm going to have to. Anyone have any ideas?

Who would you revert back to 2.1 when the officla update (that will do the same thing) will be out soon? Are you going to not install that either?

Anyway the battery on the phone is terrible but do this.

1) Get an extended battery.
2) Keep usiong KingKernals #2.
3) Use SetCPU so that when the screen is turned off you have it set to around 245 Mhz.
4) Bump charge when you can.
5) Reset your battery statistics under advanced options in Clockwork. (Bump charge several times before doing so)
6) Use a task killer from time to time. (Not all the time but after using the phone for 6+ hours kill off any running apps and continue on)
7) Try Autokiller from the market for rooted phone to help free up space when needed.
8) Use a Settings Profile app. I actually use Settings Profile which will automatically turn off wifi when I leave the house as it knows my location via gps.
8) Pray

I'm using stock kernal, 2.15 radio, Skyraider 2.5.2 and I've gotten the longest life so far. You gotta charge the phone while its on, wait for green light, unplug, turn phone off, plug it back it, wait for orange to turn green, unplug/replug again. I got an hour steady @100% today and about 12 hours total on the day. I know that's not ideal but it's the best so far and I'm not gonna complain.

How this is new ? the battery is the only negative if any at all with this or any smartphone, if you use it that is.....Running the OEM batt. I used to have the same issues then I cancelled the sync-updates. The weather updates in an hourly basis and Facebook updates only when I open it and that's it, still get messages and what not from it and last but not least I always carry a fully charge extra battery just in case but rarely if ever needed it. Good luck

from what is described in the OP something else must be at play. i have a 1500 battery and unplug at about 7 am and I use google talk, texting, checking emails, few phone calls, moderate browsing, and i'm sure i open up several apps throughout the day. i also have many widgets running like engadget, androidcentral, facebook, and twitter off the top of my head. by the time i get home around 4-5 i'm usually down below 40% but thats more than enough for me. i have noticed that if i have gps on and i use the navigation i can literally watch the battery drain. i am currently running frankenROM b6.

Please help, my battery sucks bigtime as well! Here are my stats:
Battery left: <10%
Up time: 12:14
Awake time: 4:52
Cell Standby: 34%
Phone Idle: 23%
Wi-Fi: 22%
Android system: 9%
Voice calls 9%
Display: 3%

I am running radio 2.15, Adrynalyne 3rd Wave, KingXKernel #2 and using Seidio 1750 battery. I really do not use my phone that much, for sure less than what the awake time is saying (4:52h). Most of my sync settings are set to 2hr intervals. Here is a big kicker though, I get terrible service at my clinic so my time without a signal is almost 50%. Because of this, I turn off 3G and keep wi-fi on. Will this still kill my battery by not having service even if 3G is off? I have setCPU set to CONSERVATIVE and have a screen off profile set between 245-384mhz. Battery life has never been very good on my phone but it is much worse since moving to Froyo.

Running 2.2 leaked with sense and my battery is amazing. Takes an hour or two to charge and I get 30+ hours out of it with moderate usage. 9 hours at work and i'm around 85%. I'm on the stock battery too. I feel bad for you guys. Not sure whats going on with your phone. 2 other co-workers have a Dinc running 2.1 Sense and they get similar battery life to mine.

I was using King#2 yesterday with SkyRaider 2.5.2 and I had, by FAR, the worst battery performance I've had so far. I switched to Hydra SSUV and set up SetCPU profiles to mirror ChiTownJim's yesterday.

I just noticed that my up time is 2:46:35 and my awake time is 2:11:44. It looks like the Genie widget has used almost 2 hours of partial wake. Peace out, Genie. We'll see if that helps. I did not have anything chewing up partial wake yesterday, though.

At first I was having serious battery issues after installing SkyRaider 2.5.2, radio 2.15, unrevoked forever and KiNgxKernel 2.263215 (I think that is what it is). After installing these I could literally watch the battery drain (I installed a custom notification bar with a circle battery monitor). Really frustrating. I read a lot of posts and did the following:
1) Added several profiles to SetCPU to minimize CPU speed (for example, min 325/max 425 when screen off)
2) Went into ROM Manager and updated the permissions (this was a pretty instant change in battery consumption - much improved)
3) Did several bump charge cycles

Now, the charging time is still quite long but the battery life is amazing! I went all day at work 7:45 until 7:30 tonight and have 79 percent battery left with moderate phone and data usage.

Worth a shot....

Did you do fix permissions in Rom Manager? I get an error message when I try to do that. I did some research telling me to copy Titanium Backup/s busybox file to /system/bin which I did and restarted... still get the error. Suggestions?

I wish I could remember what I did. I too got that error, turned off the phone. Tried it again, got the error. I never copied the busybox file to /system/bin. After repeating a couple more times it just worked. It was ridiculously late at night and I remember the Busybox error but I can't recall what I did. I'll see if I can find the what I did and if I do, I'll post back.

By the way, there is a busybox file on the root of my sdcard. There is not busybox file in /system/bin. Maybe try moving it to your sdcard's root and see if that works.
