Just rec'd my X today with the subject screen protectors. Have fried the first one trying to install and would like advice on how to peel off the step 2 layer without the whole thing coming up. Seems I have removed all bubbles, but when I try to lift the last tab, both the screen protector and it's install layer stick together.

Help???

Chiming in to back the poor underdog VZW brand :p
A friend of mine had one of the more expensive protectors out there on his Evo and I thought it felt rubbery. These cheapo Anti-Glare ones actually feel great to me and no one I've shown the phone to has noticed that there's even a protector on it yet.

Also, that last split can suck no doubt. I had to pick at it with a thumbnail for a bit to split it, then lie it down.

I know this thread is a little stale, but how does the anti-glare protector affect the screen? I tried an anti-glare on my iPhone, but it made the screen look grainy. I just ordered a DX from a store, and picked up a case and screen protectors at the same time, and just noticed that the protectors where anti-glare and not crystal clear. I'll probably exchange these for the crystal ones when I go get my number ported once my X gets here.

The VZW ones sucked. They don't cover the whole glass area, they don't transmit my touch well at all, they made the screen much dimmer, and they had this ugly grainy rainbow effect over the screen which was very unpleasant to look at. I got the Steinheil Ultra Crystal ones and the difference was night and day, you can't even really tell the Steinheil one is on my screen at all because it's so perfectly clear.

I got a scratch almost immediately on my BB; therefore, I slapped on a (anti-glare) screen protector the minute I opened my X. I like the way the anti-glare works. I like the way my fingers slide across the screen. My only point of reference is my friend's iPhone where my finger does not slide smoothly across the screen because it seems that the oils grab the glass. Does this happen on an unprotected X? I (and everyone I show my X) seem to be impressed with the graphics. At a party Fri night several of my friends were wowed by the speed, screen and lack of weight of the X. All of them were iOwners.

Looking forward to hearing about the better screen protectors and merits of full coverage vs. display only.

Loving my X,

Which is funny, because it's heavier than the iPhone 3Gs or 4! When I handled one in the store, I didn't notice the extra weight myself (compared to my iPhone 3Gs with a case).

Anyways, I'll swpa out the anti-glare protectors for clear ones when I get my phone in, and see how I like them. I didn't care for the grainy rainbow effect of the anti-glares on my iPhone, and definitely don't want it on my DX!

I like the way the verizon one feels also... they do a good job of what they're made for, anti-finger print. They aren't the clearest, but I don't care if I can see it since it makes it so much easier to swype.

My only gripe is that it only covers the touchscreen area of the phone instead of the entire glass area. Do any of the non-verizon screen protectors cover the entire glass area, or is this just common with all brands?

Just ordered the Steinheil Ultra Crystal protectors from Ebay. $13.95 and free shipping. In anticipation of their arrival, I removed the Verizon Anti-Glare protector that the Verizon CSR installed the day I bought the phone.

Wow! What a difference! I didn't realize how much that protector degraded the appearance of the X's screen until it was gone. Wow! (Did I say that already?) So that's what the screen is supposed to look like! Anyway, I look forward to the arrival of the Steinheil protector and hope that it won't affect the screen's performance as much as Verizon's did. If it does -- now that I've seen how terrific the naked screen looks -- I might decide to go without a protector; taking a calculated risk that I won't trash the screen, because it lives in the Verizon leather pouch holster without it coming in contact with crap in my pockets.

Hopefully, the Steinheil protector will make this debate a moot point.

Yep. I couldn't really find the words to explain this phenomenon to a co-worker when he ordered his droid x with the verizon protectors. So he of course doesn't listen and he brings his phone over when he gets it and we look at them side by side. I have the boxwave crystal protectors and it was a literal night and day difference in the clarity of the screen. Needless to say he's ordering the boxwaves asap.
